He's got his age and height working against him. And he can't do anything about either of those. I think he's going to have a low second round ceiling, no matter how well he performs next year.
He really is like the second coming of Boris Diaw. Almost identical players, except Boris can shoot. If Royce can develop a J, he'll stick in the league.
Royce White is not ready for the NBA yet. He needs at least another year. Royce hasn't even played a full season of college ball yet. Great skill set but needs more experience and development. ISU should be improved next year with his return and RW should improve as well. That would mean first round money. And you just don't leave early unless you are a first rounder for sure. Preferably Top 15.
It will be at the three just as much as it will the four. Royce will not have as much trouble guarding NBA threes as you think. He is one of those 260 pound freaks that can be sufficient on defense. Watch the NBA sometime, there are many three's with worse foot-speed than RW. Ball-handling is not an issue, it is decision making.
There aren't multiple "260 pound freaks" playing SF, there's LeBron and Royce is not the same caliber of athlete as him. Seriously, go look at some of the NBA SF's there's only two guys over 250 lbs, most of them are under 230, let alone 270. Royce would get destroyed trying to guard most of the NBA 3's.
