Yeah, I'd rather have Texas. No one scares me beyond Brown, and they aren't as tough defensively as K State. In short, K State is a much better team, even if we beat them twice.

I would embrace anything beyond a first-round conference tournament exit, since it hasn't been done since 2005 (!) ... but a Baylor win has more value:

1. Third place instead of fourth. No downside with that, in itself.
2. Could provide a seeding boost in NCAA tourney.
3. Baylor doesn't win @Hilton — why break the mold this time?

Reason 2 might be leveled with a loss to Texas in round 1. Maybe. It's a matter of not losing it, as opposed to winning it (which would have zero seeding effect).

Anything beyond that in the Big 12 tournament is gravy.

And Brown is a far better player than anyone KSU has. I'd rather play KSU. They have no one they can go to to score in crunch time.

In some ways, this Big 12 season has been bizarre.

Baylor was swept by both KU & MU
KSU swept Missouri, but was swept by ISU and OU
ISU swept a team (KSU) that swept a team (Missouri) that swept ISU.

I don't know if I buy the "hard to beat a team 3 times" thing — I'm even more hesitant this year; seems like there's a lot of matchup imbalance

If we win 2 games in the tounry and on saturday, a 7 seed is a lock.

So if we get the 3 seed do we have the last game Thursday night? Selfishly, I'd much prefer that to trying to catch the noon game at work.

I didn't even think about the "home court advantage" detail.

That would make playing UT a preference in itself.

Then again, ISU beat KSU in a true road game, so....

Even if facing KSU was preferable to Texas, I still want 3rd place anyway, even if it's by tiebreaker. The thought of Baylor sweeping us seems like it shouldn't happen this season.
