Iowa State Pre-tourney Party
Kelly’s Westport Inn; 500 Westport Road, Kansas City
Wednesday, March 7
5-9 p.m.

Join the ISU Alumni Association Club of Kansas City for a fun-filled evening. All ISU alumni, family, and friends are invited. Kelly's will be running the ISU mug special (domestic beer refills in the mugs are $5 for 34 ounces). There will also be a Wednesday night special for $2 wells (vodka, whiskey, rum, gin).

I will be there for sure. This should be a great time, it always is! My group has people from Chicago, Omaha, Des Moines, Maryville, and Iowa City flying/driving in. Who else will be there? I'd love to meet some Cyclone Fanatics!

I'm not sure the drink specials will be this good on Thursday/Friday/Saturday but I can promise you, we will be there every step of the way!

We'll be staying near there on Thurs night, Fri night, and Sat night... so there's a good chance we'll be seen there throughout the tourney. :)

I don't know if it's still true or not, but I've always heard that Kelly's could fail to make a profit all year long and still stay in business with the crowds they draw for St. Patrick's Day AND the ISU fans coming down for the Big 12 tourney. Those 2 events kept the bar open for the rest of the year.

The first year the tourney was played in Dallas, three of our group drove down together. We stopped at Kelly's on our way through Kansas City to get a beer & a slice of Joe's Pizza, and when we told the bartender we wanted to make Kelly's a part of our tourney experience despite the tourney moving South, she gave us a huge stack of those big wax-paper cups to take with us. We took them to a LOT of the pregame rallies down there & got great comments from other fans.
