Why did Scott Drew call 2 quick 2nd half timeouts

It was not smart at all as they still have 5-8 point lead and then after the 2nd timeout ISU made their run to get into the game.....

Because he is good at recruiting, not at coaching.

Because he had to get that timeout in just seconds before the media timeout was coming.

Despite being able to pull in top notch talent, he coaches at a low level.

To try and kill our 3pointer momentum.

1st one called after Scott hit a three.

2nd one was after Allen hit two in a row.

    (Some logic to it)

He did that twice! Why would you call a timeout she the media timeout was coming? For most of the second half they only had 1 timeout

One of the timeouts, I'm pretty sure he called because the two teams had went down the court trading three point shots for a few trips.

That's ISU's game, especially at home. Not sure if that's the timeout in question, but I actually thought that was one of his better coaching moves. I was loving the idea of it turning into a 3 point shootout.

Talked about this in the game thread, it was stupid coaching for sure. They were down to one timeout left at about the 5 minute mark. Trying to slow/stop momentum is one thing, but doing it with 12 minutes left in the game, twice....is stupid.

Were you guys watching the game? At that time, White had 3 fouls. He wanted to isolate one of their post players- Jones (I belive) on Ejim. They came out of both timeouts going right at him. His intentions were to attack us in the post with isolations until we decided to double or commit Royce White on the post player to pick up his 4th. We did neither. Great coaching move by Hoiberg.

Cheating in recruiting does not guarantee success in coaching. Drew is in way over his head, has been for years, all the players know it, but $omehow he $till manage$ to recruit top 10 player$. You do the math!!

I also really enjoyed him jumping up and down telling his guys to foul Royce with a foul to give. Didn't happen and he gave it up to scottie to get fouled. I thought coaches were supposed to know the situation.

It's easy to Monday morning QB things like TO's, but I can see the logic. Call time out in an effort to stop our momentum. Even if you have a tv TO coming right up, that's double bang for your buck. Momentum can be a finicky thing.

Coaches are but I don't know if Scott Drew really qualifies.
