Someone with some time should do a comparison between us and teams in a 5-6 seed. I'd also like to see a comparison between us and teams ranked 15-25. I bet we are much more qualified than many of them.

I'd take that bracket, think we could make it to Duke in the Regional Finals... or lose to UVa in the opening round.

I'll do part of the leg work. I'll let people draw their conclusions.

    6 seeds

    Gonzaga

    Murray State

    Notre Dame

    Vanderbilt

    I won't go into 5 seeds yet.

My buddy, a K-State fan, says that as an at-large, you're either a 6 or an 8, because they don't like to stick the best mid-major teams in the 8/9 game. Look at the 7 seeds (SDSU, Memphis, New Mexico, Creighton).

I think he was wrong, because last year, a lot of those teams ended up as 8 seeds, but it may depend on the committee any given year.

4 out of the top 5 rated bracket predictors in the Bracketology Matrix also predicted us to be an 8 seed. Number 4 picked us to be a 6 seed.

Tell your friend that I concur with you. He's wrong.

    1. Examples to the contrary:

    2011
    8 George Mason
    8 UNLV
    8 Butler
    9 Old Dominion

    2010
    8 UNLV
    8 Gonzaga
    9 UNI

    2009
    9 Siena
    9 Butler

    2008
    8 BYU
    8 UNLV
    9 Kent State

    2. Reason he's wrong:
    Because it isn't true.

I could argue we belong above Notre Dame. I'm not sure about the others. I've seen Vandy play (TV) a few times and I like them. It's hard to measure Murray State given the conference they play in but they probably deserve a 6 also.

Here's hoping we make a run in the BigXIIs and Notre Dame and Vandy fall flat in their conf tourneys.

I almost thought Notre Dame had the best lock on a 6, out of those four. Then I forgot about all those sub-100 losses.

    I think Gonzaga will end up as a 7, not a 6.

Re: Updated 5/5 Men's ESPN Bracketology

Vandy is 21-10 and 2-6 versus the AP and are in 3rd place in the conference. Notre Dame is also 21-10 and 5-5 versus the AP and 3rd in the conference. So based on that I think Iowa State should at least be above Vandy.

I 100% agree. I think we should be at least a 6. No respect. Jake Taylor sums up my feelings best...
