People like to crap on Gottlieb but he gives a great compliment to Iowa State fans

The 3:50ish mark. He is talking about Bubble teams and what they need to do. Talking about Texas, says their game will be a road game against Iowa State in the second round. "No one travels like Iowa State fans. Whether they are up or down."

People call him out for saying anything negative about Iowa State, should be brought out when he says something nice.

Yeah, but before that he doesn't include us in the top 3 of the conference. He says Baylor instead of us...

He basically gave us the title of Miss Congeniality. :rolleyes:

Technically, Baylor and us are tied record wise. If you said top 3 and included ISU you would be correct. If you said Baylor you could be correct.

You could argue Baylor is top 3 because they only loss to number 1, 2, 4 and 5. Iowa State did lose to Texas(6) and OSU(7) who Baylor swept both.

Not to mention Baylors non conference wins that they have and 8-3 road record.

This is exactly the failure of logic that fans have.

First he throws out a very very flattering, personal, not team related compliment to our fans. Then we get mad at him for that?

Not thinking your #25 team is going as far in the tourney as a #12 or #13 team is completely and totally reasonable, but we just beat baylor so our fans are going to expect to be pumped up as the greatest team of all time.

Guess what? Dude is an analyst. He analyzes things and the better and more accurate he does it, the more money he makes and the more respected he is in his profession. He doesn't have a grudge against ISU or any other school that I have ever noticed.

Disagreeing with his opinion does not mean he hates our school. It's just like, his opinion, man.

No. He is evil incarnate. He is not talking about ISU winning the National Championship. Quick everyone grab a pitchfork.

Gottleib is going to make prediction just like every other talking head. If he has an insighttful reason as to why he is picking the way he is, I will listen to it. Sometime he seems like he's just flinging crap at the wall and seeing what will stick.
He also seems to favor high profile teams sometimes. I guess that makes him popular with their fans.


If ISU could have swept OSU this year, that might have helped shut him up.

Basically, what we have done is this season is this:

-Lost to UNI, Drake and OSU which shouldn't have happened
-Won all the toss up games with the exception of Texas and beaten everyone we were supposed to in conference
-Beat KU which is a surprise.

We haven't done anything all that special either way and if we did, it was to the negative. I realize that we are a completely different team now than we were when conference play started, but we don't have a fantastic resume. I think we are a good team, however, I cannot argue with someone who isn't impressed with us on paper. We are a matchup nightmare but, on paper, outside of the KU and maybe Baylor wins, we don't stick out as a top 3 team. If I were unbiased I would probably say that Baylor is a better team than we are.

That logic doesn't follow. ISU swept the #5 team and beat the #1 team, neither of which BU did. The highest ranked B12 team Baylor beat was us and we split the series with them. That is why we get the nod in the seeding and that's the way it should be done.
