For all the people saying we were FLAT
When exactly were we flat?
To start the game? Ok I'd agree with that, but to say it cost us the game is short sighted when we had an 11 point lead in THE 2ND HALF!

Re: For all the people saying we were FLAT
Pretty simple we didn't match their intensity.

Re: For all the people saying we were FLAT
Not so sure they were flat...I think they were tight. One player in particular was gripping most of the game.

Flat start, flat last 15 minutes. We sucked worse than the last Jenna Jamison video I saw (5 minutes ago)

It was like I basically watched four different games in one tonight. Very frustrating but we still have another game to look forward to so this is still a hell of a lot better then we have gotten used to.

I think the biggest reason I'm saying they looked flat was the lackluster passing I saw throughout the night. We had a lot of turnovers on lazy passes. Maybe our definitions of being flat in a game are different, but lazy passes and lack of blocking out are key indicators for me to say a team is flat.

Re: For all the people saying we were FLAT
We had one guy who was just brutal especially in the parts of the game where things went south on us.
Teams on this level will beat you every time when that happens.

Re: For all the people saying we were FLAT
We were in the game with under two minutes to go. No one can say we weren't in a position to win regardless of our play to that point. The difference is they had a guy that wanted the ball in his hands, we didn't. White, Scotty and Allen have all been that guy in other games, but none of them were in that zone last night.
Down the stretch Royce had a couple nice inside moves that were setting him up to be that guy, but then he tossed up a garbage three, turned the ball over on a bad pass (possible foul or not), and tried to push it into Scott's hands in the final seconds. Scott was cold and well covered, Allen was also cold and careless enough to turn an open look at three into a turnover off his foot. Unfortunately, we really count on one of those three to pull the team through, and they just weren't in a position to do that last night.

Re: For all the people saying we were FLAT
My opinion on the team. i feel I must rant and be done with it.
Solid team offensively. Improvements in the post game need to happen for us to ever be consistant. If there is not really a threat at post, they will never double up and our guards will never get open looks. If you watched last night, they really only seemed concerned with the 3 point shot and pretty much forced our guards to take bad 3's or dribble penetrate. Royce and Percy worked it a bit down low but Royce really needs to work on finishing around the rim a bit better. When you are not playing at home, you cannot count on fouls being called with contact, unless you are UT of course :P. The other issue I found on offense is our team is scared of the pull up jumper. Many times they get open looks from 10-15 feet away and instead of taking it, they dribble and throw up a contested floater or throw back out to the perimeter.
Defense: Where to begin. Babb is solid and Allen has really stepped his game up. I feel our bigs are doing what they can most of the time, Royce is obviously weary of getting in foul trouble so he doesn't try to block shots and Ejim's D is usually on point. I like the idea of getting Booker and Percy in the game a lot to shove the bigs around and get some of those contact fouls to test the officiating. The elephant in the room on defense is Scotty. Scotty is way too much of an asset on offense to take out of the game so we have to endure his complete inability to play solid defense. I can't count how many times that either the opposition blows past him or he is in the way of the other defenders. Not to mention, he is never in foul trouble yet he wont foul to save baskets on fast breaks or anything. I don't really have a solution to Scotty, just felt the need to vent and share my thoughts.
Time to turn it around for the tourney and maybe turn some heads out east.

It wasn't "flat".
We took our foot off the accelerator when our lead reached 11 and let up. Simple as that.
Woody...TOUCHDOWN! THEY DID IT! -

Re: For all the people saying we were FLAT
Basketball is such a game of "runs" if you will. As you all know, a difference in 5-10 points can sometimes take place in a matter of 30 seconds (missed opportunity/other team taking advantage).
I was bummed Texas trimmed our lead right before the half (especially considering how we opened the second).
It just seemed we didn't get those chances to pull ahead based on our own D, not capitalizing on O, and then just the ball bouncing the wrong way sometimes.
