Yeah, glad that wasn't directed at me.
Apples and oranges...LE didn't say stuff like this. This is funny and the coach knew it. LE said truly hatefull and disturbing things.

Re: Paul Shirley in the DMR about end of 2001 season
Is Paul Shirley a dsm register contributor now? Does he have an independent blog and why didn't the register post a link?
Why is his perspective of value at this moment?

Should a accredited paper like the register post the "boob blooger's" views?

Re: Paul Shirley in the DMR about end of 2001 season
i gotta say, there are few fan bases with thinner skin than cyclone fans.
if i spent five years at isu doing nothing but studying mechanical engineering, working out, and playing for LE, i'd have some strong opinions about ISU myself!

I enjoy how many people here are saying Paul is sensitive for still being upset about being involved in one of the most historic college basketball games ever, then we complain about how this is published the night before a game. Who gives a **** if its the night before a game? It will not make any difference in how our team plays and is more of a positive article than anything else.
Also enjoy reading the guys who compare what Eustachy said to something a high school coach said.

He should forgive and forget, but his feelings are understandable. I'm definitely not in the "Paul Shirley's a ****" camp.

Re: Paul Shirley in the DMR about end of 2001 season
I am with some of you that Shirley is living up to his name as girley shirley. Maybe LE was trying to motivate them or it was because he is a drunk. I remember that shot by Tinsley and remember the Nebraska game where the wheel fell off. And I remember losing to Baylor in the BIG 12 tourney. We were there. And I remember all of the wins ISU picked up on account of those guys. Good luck to LE. He was and is a helluva coach. And, LE, Shirley and all of his teammates gave us some great basketball.

Boo freakin' hoooo. PS is a little *****. We all know it, just no one can say it. It's big time D1 basketball. Boot camp? You had a full ride to a D1 school. Tell my buddies parents who died in the war that you were in boot camp. What a ******* little *****.

I think Shirley's notion of fit is especially telling. Hoiberg fits this team. His passion for Iowa State, ability to analyze talent, and build chemistry out of an initially discordant team has brought them to the tournament. Shirley even implies that perhaps Southern Miss is a better fit for Eustachy. It's not a piece on failure from the past, but redemption for Iowa State and for Eustachy. That's pretty much what I got out of that. Sounded to me like he's saying you need to be a team and not a collection of individuals to make a run in the tournament and that last year they were anything but.

I can’t wait for this to be over.” In a hotel room, outside of practice, that can really be demoralizing. It's almost like seeing your coach at Target with his family one night and he tells you how much you suck.
Shirley should have thicker skin, but as others have said, LE was clearly a train wreck waiting to happen. That analogy makes no sense whatsoever.
