Ride back with Royce.
If it is $2k or less, get it fixed now. Every option costs money. The following week we play in Atlanta, so wait to see how the games turn out.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Re: Car issues in Louisville, could use help?
2003 Chevy Trailblazer. Been working phones and online options. Vehicle is currently at a garage being checked out. Hoping for good news from them. Renting a uhaul with a trailer was pricey, renting a big pick up wasn't too bad. Working on seeing what it would run to rent truck and uhaul trailer. Basic scenario of what happened: Everything going fine, stopped for gas 20 miles or so from L'vile. Got back on the interstate and got up to about 45mph just fine, tried to accelerate up to a higher speed (65-70) and engine revved and rpm's would jump pretty high and couldn't get up past the 45mph mark so drove in slow lane with hazards on to the next exit (couple miles). Called dad, (i'm a dumb college kid that knows next to nothing about vehicles), checked tranny fluid which seemed to be fine and he suggested putting it in 3rd and driving at a slower rate to try and make it the last 15 miles or so. Worked well for a bit, but then started jerking hard and couldn't really drive at much of a decent speed at all so pulled off at the next exit a mile or two up and called the tow truck.

Color of transmission fluid?

Re: Car issues in Louisville, could use help?
You need to check the tranny fluid while the engine is running in order to get a true reading. Also when you looked at it, was it a clear red color or was it darker or possibly brownish color? Did the oil smell burnt? You probably didn't check these real well but that would be an indicator of a tranny going bad as you are frying clutch packs. Symptons you gave could be from having to add oil to the tranny. One thing I figured out when my transmission went bad in a truck was a true test was putting it in reverse. If it slips when you have it in reverse, then the tranny is shot. If it is fine in reverse and slips in one of the other gears, then it is most likely low on tranny fluid or you have a plugged filter....which you would see by checking the oil.
Good Luck

Re: Car issues in Louisville, could use help?
sounds kinda like a rebuild is in order. I would say it sounded like your o/d was shot, but if it carried down into 3rd that gear is going as well. Have you tried 2nd? Seems funny that your fluid seems fine as well. If your trany was going out it should smell "burnt" or be full of metal.
Oh! I just thought of something...... not only should you try to use the lower gear, but also turn off your overdrive. When ours went out, the tranny still ran funny in third untill we explicity turned the o/d off. I had to play with the tranmission quite a bit before I got it to function well enough to get back home(300 miles) and ran on the trany another 6 mo before i had to finaly get a new one. We got lucky.. it was around the time the cash for clunkers program was going (carneys had a CFC explorer on hand with a low mileage tranny)on. We found a used transmision for $400 and found someone to install for $300 more. New tranny for under $800 was not bad.

Good Luck Did check the tranny fluid while engine was running as my dad suggested. He said similar about reverse, but reverse is fine (hopefully this is good news). I might look into the plugged filter. Thanks for your help.

Ok, so maybe this is just my ignorance when it comes to vehicles and this may make me sound really stupid, but how do you just turn your o/d off?

Depending on your vehicle make and model, there is usually a button somewhere that says O/D. Look in the owner manual if you aren't sure.
