Never has anyone beaten 3 of the previous year's final four teams. Here are teams that have beaten 2 of the previous final four teams (11 times):
1946 North Carolina
1952 St. John's
1974 North Carolina State
1993 North Carolina
2006 George Mason
North Carolina in 1946 and Utah in 1998 are the only two teams that have played 3 of the previous years final four. Both of them lost in the National Championship game to a final four participant from the previous year.
You might want to look at champions vs their seed -- then, hopefully realize just how dumb what you said really is..........wow
True, but the #1 AP team has only won the tournament 3 out of 27 times since the field expanded to 64. And the last time it happened was 2001. That is 10 straight years without the #1 team winning the tournament. We could guarantee it to be 11 straight with a win tomorrow.
