My encounter with Royce...
I thought all my fellow CycloneFanatics would enjoy this story.
I've referenced being in Louisville a few different times during the last few days since the field was announced. Anyway, this afternoon my dad and I went into downtown Louisville and checked out the Galt House, where the team is staying. While we were checking the place out and talking with a fellow Cyclone fan we noticed Royce White and Austin McBeth playing the piano in the lobby. Austin played for a few minutes with Royce listening to him and talking music, then Royce took his turn at the keys. My dad and I just sat down and listened for a few minutes, watched the guys take pictures with a woman from Georgia (very graciously I might add) before we decided to go over and chat and hopefully get a picture (an aside, I have a thing about being intrusive towards people, especially athletes who probably get all sorts of people coming up to them to chat and ask for autographs, etc. I was a bit hesitant to do it in the first place.)
Anyway, they take a break from playing the piano and I apologize for interrupting them when the elevator door opens up and guys like Melvin Ejim, Railey, Percy, and others let Royce and Austin know that it's time to go to lunch. Royce invites my father and I to ride in the elevator with them, and when we get to the bottom floor Royce hangs back for a couple of minutes to chat with the two of us and posed for a picture with me.
As a lifelong Iowa State fan it was a terrific experience to be able to talk with a student-athlete like Royce just for a few minutes. Great kid. Very polite and well-spoken in person and he could not have been nicer to me and my father.
I thought that might be a story worth posting for your enjoyment.

Don't be shocked.
That's the way RW treats everybody.
He's everything you want in an ambassador for ISU.

Thanks for sharing. Royce will be remembered for a long time as a winner and someone who appreciated his time here. The best part is he left a not so good situation for ISU and made it a good situation. I hope he's here a lot longer! These stories are what help build his legacy more than dunks, wins, stats, etc.

Man I hope he stays. He looked pretty good against Uconn but still think he could use another year. But whatever he decides Cyclonenation will back him.
