Re: Grade the Season
B+, but for me an A or A+ = Final 4. We did get a ****** draw with UK though. I think if we played another team, we could be still going, so my grade might be different.
We played well most of the season, but lost some games we shouldn't have (UNI, Drake, Oklahoma State, Texas twice). Next year we will be even better.

Re: Grade the Season
I graded the season a B, with some of same reasons as above. Non-conference was tough to watch, Drake and UNI teams we should of beat. Conference tourny was a bust. Those things hurt our seeding, and we could of went further in the NCAA with the better seed.

Re: Grade the Season
4th most wins in a season in school history, made the tourney after a 6 year absence, beat a ranked team at home for the first time in six years, beat kansas, crushed iowa, won 4 big 12 road games, beat UCONN, hung with the future national champs, and watched royce white become a 1st rd draft pick......and 28% of our fans gave us a B+. gimme a break....

Re: Grade the Season
Voted A-. Would have been an A with a sweep of OSU, one B12 tourney victory, OR a victory over Mizzou.
Other than that, no complaints. What a year.

Re: Grade the Season
A "B" is a very good year. An "A" or "A+" equals little to no room for improvement.
gimme a break

gimme a break Depends on if you are grading against all the years in the future or what you could reasonably expect in the 2nd year after McDoormat buried the program.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

gimme a break we had the 4th most wins in program history in >100 seasons. 97th percentile is only a B? that's a tough curve.

College Basketball is killing itself with these stupid Conference Tourneys.

Re: Grade the Season
I chose A-. There was a TON of uncertainty heading into this season. It was pretty obvious ISU would be better than last year, but the NCAA tournament was far from a safe bet at the beginning of the season. ISU also didn't look like a tourney team during their OOC schedule, however they played much better in Big 12 play, and made clear improvement throughout the season. ISU ended up making the NCAA tournament and even winning a game so I'd be hard pressed to go lower than an A-. Anyone who wasn't satisfied with this season had their expectations set too high. Heck, if it wasn't for the loss to Texas in the Big 12 tourney ISU would probably have pulled a 7 seed and be in the Sweet 16.
It was a great season for ISU, and they have a lot of pieces coming back, as well as some good new pieces for next year. Lucious will give you a true PG, and Clyburn gives you a dynamic scorer who will create a lot of mismatches on defense for your opponents next season. I'd be surprised if ISU doesn't at least make it to the Sweet 16 next season.

Re: Grade the Season
B+/A-
We got wins in conference when we needed them to hold onto 3rd place - @KSU, vs. Baylor. The loss to Texas was disappointing, but almost every team has a "hiccup" or a game they lose to a middle-of-the-conference finishing team. Clearly the team didn't play that well in the non-conference, but you could see improvement from the start of the year to the end.
All in all, a very good year for the Clones. It's been a lot of fun watching them grow as a team and here's hoping this is just the start of things.

Grading doesn't have to be based on just room for improvement. Think about expectations before this season. Who would have thought it'd be the 4th most winning season? Giving this team an A or A- makes sense.

Re: Grade the Season
B+. Some bad losses (UNI, Drake, OSU, etc). Some good wins (UCONN, Baylor, Kansas, K-state). Early exit from the Big 12 tourney and just one NCAA tournament win = fall short of an A IMO.
For comparison's sake, last year gets an F.

Re: Grade the Season
I went with B+. Too many bad/inexplicable losses this season, and I'm not even counting Drake and UNI when they were still gelling as a team. That Texas loss in the Big 12 Tourney put us in line for that curb stomping last night. Very good season, but not the best we could have done by far.

For comparison's sake, last year gets an F. I might give 2010-11 a C-plus. I thought the team was competitive all the way, but inability to win any of those close conference games was frustrating. I realize there was no depth ... but winning 2 or 3 more seemed plausible.
2009-10 was D material. You don't coach somewhere 3 years, return a potential NBA first-rounder, get a small boost in juco talent, and the only tournament team you can beat is KSU, after postseason potential is almost non-existent.
