The night before pep rally with coaches, JP, pep band, etc was not done this year, for the first time (other than Boise which was cancelled due to downpour).

Re: Complete and total 'FAIL' from the ISU Alumni Association...
I would guess this was partially due to there not being a AA sponsored package. Since there was no package, I doubt the AA wanted to pay travel costs for a group to put on a pep rally.

I was about to throw this out there and also the fact that not a lot of fans traveled to New York or down to Louisville.

The Alumni Association not lifting a finger to try and do something, anything in Louisville for the tournament is, IMO, a big deal, and would be even if I hadn't been traveling for the tournament, especially since it was our first tournament in 7 years.

Still disappointing, but a better reason than not just making any sort of effort.

did you attend the event that the local Alumni Group held? I have watched games with local groups before and it was a great experience.

Re: Complete and total 'FAIL' from the ISU Alumni Association...
Are you on Facebook? I get Alumni Association updates in my feed and there were at least 7 posts about things happening in Louisville. Someone asked on the 14th if there would be a sponsored event and they said it would be done by volunteers in the area. They Had a site on the alumni association website dedicated to the men's and women's tourney games. I don't see all that info as a FAIL like you do. I attended NCAA games in Minneapolis many years ago, there may have been an alumni association pep rally but I don't remember. It was probably done more by the Twin Cities chapter than the alumni association themselves.

Re: Complete and total 'FAIL' from the ISU Alumni Association...
we may have lost to kentucky, but kudos to coach fred hoiberg for doing one helluva job with the basketball program these last two years. he is a better coach than mcdermott, and we should call him the "governor" instead of the "mayor"......

As I wrote earlier my dad and I checked it out Thursday afternoon once we got to downtown Louisville, but it was pretty quiet at the time, and since we had woken up at 4 am to get ready for our 6:15 am flight to Louisville, we were both pretty exhausted by the afternoon and we went back to our hotel room for a nap before the evening games started. They did have a gamewatch party scheduled for 5 pm on Saturday, but as we had tickets for all the sessions we watched the Marquette/Murray State game before our game against Kentucky.

And maybe that's the issue; lack of communication/communication capability with Cyclone fans who may not have gone to school there.

You don't have to be an alumni to follow the alumni association on facebook. Just Saying.
