Re: Complete and total 'FAIL' from the ISU Alumni Association...
The pep rally in KC prior to the Big 12 tourney game was very sad. There was a great fan turnout in a cool location in the P&L District. But the rally basically consisted of Jeff Johnson leading Cyclone Power for20 seconds. Then having different sections of the crowd yell I-S-U when he pointed at them. Unfortunately, as a result we ended up chanting S-I-U. This followed by the fight song 6 times was it. Sounds like we need to be better at pep rallies in general.

It is not all about you ...... the ISUAA is designed to make, not lose, money.

With all due respect, you need to grease a few palms, shake a few hands when raising funds in the Alumni world. They are the backbone, the VIP's in every Athletic program.
You can not make money , increase awareness and celebrate the programs success at any better times then National type exposure events. Not everyone wants or can afford to have a building named for them, but the masses of Alumni look forward to these type of events.

Come on, you are a donor and know better. ISUAA is a non-profit that is the social arm for alumni and friends of ISU. The ISU Foundation is the funding raising arm of the university.
I have set up the type of rallies everyone he is bemoaning and the surprising part is the lack of cooperation from the Athletic Department. Based on my experience, they are willing to participate (maybe) but don’t assist much and fund none of it. Offer to help, they don't call you back. Ask for assistance, they are not interested. There is a very odd culture in the athletic department about cooperating with anyone and they have an even odder sense of marketing. Off the record I was told they see ISUAA and ISU Foundations as competitors. I try not to dwell on it too much or it would effect the donation I give to them through the Cyclone Club each year.
