This. Heard John and Eric at the end of the Kentucky game. Eric said he understands if he leaves but selfishly wants him back because he is such a nice guy and just being around him was a great feeling. Now it's time for Royce to take those wonderful attributes and help even more people. Congratulations Royce! I don't think he will ever truly know how much he and this years team meant to Cyclone Nation! Good Luck!

IMO Lucious and Clyburn make up for SC and CA (if Clyburn plays like he did at Utah especially).

My friend was discouraged when I told him. I think if Royce had stayed we were a serious Big 12 Title contender and possible elite 8/ final four 4 team. I think without him we stay where we are top 3 or 4 big 12 team and probably a sweet 16 team. Also he likes to have the ball in his hands that playing with a true pg could of caused conflict.

I feel like my heart is broke. I am pathetic. I am going to miss watching him play in Hilton, but what a wonderful run it was.
“They're very, very hard to guard,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.”

Re: *** Official Royce Press Conference Thread***

Color me optimistic, but damn this team still has so many weapons it's not even funny. I understand that most of us have suffered through the lean years and to think that we may be turning the corner to the point that we'll have guys start for a year or two and then off to the NBA is MUCH different than having one good player stick around for 4 years and then beg, borrow, steal another player to keep our heads above water.

I see all the threads talking about how much scoring, assists, heart, etc that we lose with Scotty, Allen and Royce leaving...but come on...let's talk about what we're gaining! A lot of the best players this team has seen for many years either aren't here yet or were riding the bench last year!

Go Cyclones - thanks for the memories, Royce, Scotty and Chris - time to reload and knock it out next year.

Could kinda tell if he had the chance he would be gone. I don't think his goals include winning an NCAA tourney, thats not what he is about. Going to a bigger and better opportunities.

Good for Royce. He has the opportunity to play basketball at the professional level, something he's probably wanted to do since he was 3.

On another note, I'm really impressed with CFH. Royce said he would make his decision based on advice from CFH. Imagine the situation Hoiberg was in. Next season we're looking at a potential Big 12 title, maybe a run at the Final Four, and he advises his best player to leave for the NBA because it's best for him. Obviously those things can still be done, but it speaks volumes that coach was willing to put the interest of his players ahead of himself. We got a good one folks.

Think about the message to other recruits! Hoiberg doesn't mess around. If you have NBA ability, he won't stand in the way. Rather, he will help make it happen (without all the goofiness). I this will mean a ton for his integrity in the perception of recruits. When he says he will help them do what is best for them, he has proof that he means it.
