I've heard stories after stories about him being great with kids and with people who also suffer from anxiouty. He stood up and was accountable for his past. And he stuck up for his team mates that he thought were unfairly labeled because of him. You could tell he was having fun playing basketball at Iowa State and we hadn't seen that for a long, long time.
I haven't even mentioned what a great player he is. He made hard things look easy. He made good players look silly. For some reason, I had an inkling that he was going to go after this year. So I did watch him carefully those last few games at Hilton. I wanted to appreciate what I was seeing.
I will miss watching him next year, but because of him and his teammates this year the future is bright at Iowa State.
And, most importantly, I think the future is bright for Royce White as a person and as a basketball player.
Best of luck, Royce. I'm thankful that Iowa State is a small part of your story. And I am thankful I got to witness it.
Good post. It was just fun to have a person like Royce at ISU.

I'll be rooting for Royce in the NBA. He is a total stud because he embraced his second change and fell in love with ISU because of it. Just a great athlete and great story.
I predict that Royce will have a solid NBA career. He won't be a 25ppg type guy, but I seem him making a career by rebounding and finishing near the rim.

I can only imagine the criticism Royce took, being called a "jail bird" and a "thug." Great representative of our university. So glad I got to witness not only his basketball abilities, but listen to him speak out about his mental illness and his will to help others. Realizes there is more to basketball, not to mention a very humble young man.
Thank you for 2 great years Royce, Ames loves you and cyclonenation loves you. One of my favorite Cyclones of all time. Will never forget you taking over that Kansas game at the end in Hilton. Thank you for bringing the Magic back, and for everything.

Really enjoyed the season. I loved it when you played power forward point guard. You saved our team by playing that role. SC and CA were having significant challenges bringing the ball up and you allowed them to be ready to shoot. Hope your music business and philantrophy takes off big time when you are in the pros. Thank you for a special year.
