Re: Tavon Sledge to Transfer
We need high major talent from scholarship 1 through 13. The McDermott years should remind everyone of that.
Re: Tavon Sledge to Transfer
it just seems like some players just decide to transfer once there is a little competition...
I mean Sledge knew about Bubu and all the transfers this year.... did he really expect to play....
Edit: I can see Fred telling him that he should look elsewhere for PT like ISUArgonomist stated.

Just would be nice to start getting some kids that are around the program for more than one year.

I don't like it. That makes it sound like Fred looked out for the young man instead of making the young man off to be a coward.
I was excited to see Tavon come here. I hope everything works out for him. I don't know what all he did in practice, but he did something to contribute to a really nice season. Thanks for your time as a Cyclone, sir!
Re: Tavon Sledge to Transfer
Can't say I'm surprised, best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

Really? If he would have redshirted this year, he would have been able to transfer without sitting out a year?

Maybe Fred never saw him developing into a good player and didn't want to lock up his scholarship for 5 years.
Re: Tavon Sledge to Transfer
just waiting for Railey now.

No, that's not what I meant if it came off like that. What I'm saying is, no matter what Fred did with him this season, redshirt or not, he'll be a redshirt sophomore when he's eligible to play at his next school.

I'm sure he did. Sometimes reality doesn't set in when you were the big shot star in high school and now a young freshman in college. He may have been playing in a couple of years but we will just never know. I think the kid just wants to play the game he loves so I don't blame him.

It is mostly the emotions from "knowing" that you never "lost" a year of eligibility and have to sit out two years in a row. Considering he never played this year, it does seem rather trivial.

Gotcha.

You're missing the 12 wonderful garbage minutes he got to play this year. If he redshirts, those never happen. We'll always have the Texas Tech game.
Re: Tavon Sledge to Transfer
He looked like he could of been good, but oh well. Best of luck Tavon, I understand that its about playing time and you not liking it here (Twitter: "proud to be a cyclone" numerous times). Best of luck, hopefully you can find a school and start there.

Don't you think that was the point of the 4 x 4-yr players that we signed for 2012?
