"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

So his advice probably wouldn't be the most accurate, and Royce would make sure that Lockett knows how things run under Hoiberg compared to the BS that colvin is feeding him about Iowa State under McDermott.

Re: Oriakhi and Sanchez not interested YET in Iowa State
It's hard to imagine a kid who wouldn't want to play for Fred. He encourages them to get out there and play to their strengths, and places them in situations where they can succeed.

Re: Oriakhi and Sanchez not interested YET in Iowa State
so oriakhi sanchez and pelle are no go's. We might have chance with lockett but we really need another big guy and there's really none left. looks like bubu will be getting a scholly.

Chris Colvin probably tells players not to go to Iowa State because the academics are too hard.

Re: Oriakhi and Sanchez not interested YET in Iowa State
Yes, we really NEED another big. I like our guys and Gibson is good, but we need more help. We really only have two guys taller than 6'7, Percy and Booker. We will be going up against teams that have guys ay 6'11 and taller. I am looking forward to Niang, but how will he be able to defend and rebound against 6'8 or taller guys that go 245 LBs plus? How is he going to guard 6'10 long athletic freaks like Baylor has? If we do not get another impact big for next year, it could hurt our chances of getting back to the tournament.

I kept up hope... today, Zagsblog listed 3 of his 5 official visits, plus a short list of other schools who could get the last 2 visits. We were not mentioned anywhere.
Don't get me wrong, he looks like a freak, and I would love to have him - but it does not look like it will be.

We will be back in the Tourney regardless. If Texas can make it in the Tourney at 8-10 in the conference, then I think we can make it again next year without Royce. You people also keep forgetting that we have Lucious and Clyburn coming in. Probably two NBA prospects there.

More options for 2012 will come out in the next two weeks - I'm certain of it. But, as long as we fill one of the scholarships, I don't mind Bubu getting the 13th if that's what the staff decides. We are in good shape, and can be selective - as other's have written.

Our chances to make it back to the tourney next year probably depend on how the roster changes between now and the start of next season. If the probable starters stay the same way as they look today, it's dicey if we have enough to make it back to the dance IMO. That being said, I would be very surprised if the roster didn't look quite different by the time we start next season. Need to project tourney chances once the roster takes focus.

Re: Oriakhi and Sanchez not interested YET in Iowa State
Sanchez does not look impressive to me. Alex Oriakhi is slightly overrated though, underproduces, but is utilized for his size. I’m sure Fred is a little worried about the big man situation. I know Niang is going to be good, but expecting him to come in and produce at a high level right away is a little unfair for him. It is pretty important to get another post player this year, but I really hope Fred doesn’t give it to a guy just because we need a replacement. The only players that can play the five are Percy and Booker. That is a pretty thin line up considering Ejim is really the only other post player returning.

It's kinda pathetic that every single person that is going to transfer is talked about on here. We pick up transfers that are from the midwest that we previously recruited or that we have some sort of connection with. Oriakhi would not be in either of those categories. I read somewhere that Fred had a pretty good relationship with his AAU coach...thought maybe that was the "in" people were speculating about...
