Gerard Coleman transferring
Looks like it's official, Gerard Coleman from Providence is transferring.
Now I know what you're thinking, why is this in the basketball section?
Well like I mentioned in the Oriakhi thread, Coleman use to play for Tilton, a school that Fred has great connections to and Georges Niang and another possible recruit Alex Oriakhi are from.
Question to fanatics, would you take Coleman on the team? He would have 2 years of eligibility and would sit out next year, meaning he would fill in Clyburn's spot for 2013. I personally think he would fit in the scholly plans better then Lockett but would it hinder SDW playing time.
He had a good game against us and came away impressed (20 pts and 8 reb), also was a 4-star out of high school Gerard Coleman - Yahoo! Sports

Re: Gerard Coleman transferring
2013 Lineup could be
Long/Bubu
Coleman/Okoro
SDW/Okoro
Ejim/Niang
Gibson/Niang
Obviously we would have other recruits come in but that's a good start!

Re: Gerard Coleman transferring
I like it better than lockett for class spacing. wonder why he's leaving. pc has some talent and a couple studs coming in next year. could make a run.

Re: Gerard Coleman transferring
I certainly wouldn't be disappointed with that, even though he has to sit. As others said, that would space our talent out a bit more. I'm excited about Naz, SDW, Okoro, and Niang, but they will probably need some help in 2013. Obviously Percy and Ejim would be there as well, but that's a pretty thin and young team.

Fred has one recruit from Tilton. That does not mean he has a GREAT relationship with them. Guess what, after next year, he will still have just a single recruit from them. Move on.
But is was a cool story bro.

Fred realizes that there are other ways for guards to score besides 3 point shooting. Living only by the 3, can be a killer in the tourney if you're not "on" that night. Not to mention, that Hoiberg would likely improve his outside shooting over the year that he sits out.
He still appears to be able to score and rebound, and those are two things that you need in order to win.

Re: Gerard Coleman transferring
The great connection CFH has out East was the BABC coach. I believe he is/was the GM of the Celtics (or similar capacity). It wasn't Tilton's coach that got us an "in" with Georges.

But is was a cool story bro. In facebook terms, Tilton and Fred Hoiberg have 2 mutual friends, Georges Niang, and Aaron Law ....
Nerlens Noel still hasn't committed yet -
Re: Gerard Coleman transferring
I gotta be honest, I originally read this as Gary Coleman transferring

But is was a cool story bro. you apparently missed the BABC connection...Hopefully you'll be ready to eat crow in case we get Oriakhi or Coleman.
