Overall, not as big a deal as the Daily/some students are making it out to be. Agree completely. I think it's pretty ridiculous for the author to say "it's all about the money" and then say that the section was typically 40% filled. Maybe Pollard doesn't like having a section of Hilton look 60% empty (especially during big games on national TV).

Re: ISD's Take on tickets
If you want your seat, show up early. At least Iowa State students don't need to camp out for good seats like other top tier MBB programs.

Not a fan of overselling. Just seems inherently wrong.
But I don't understand how someone can buy something on not use it. Boggles my mind.

Is whining an official major now? I believe they call it Journalism and Mass Communications.

Depends if they are turned away at the door or at the student section. If you are still able to get into Hilton then any empty seats in the balcony would be free game.

Whole industries make significant use of the concept of overselling. Airlines, car rentals, hotels. Insurance is all about the "oversell" that more people will pay than need the service they are paying for.
The key is to have a contingency plan. Airlines give travel vouchers for passengers that get bumped. Car rental companies give you free upgrades if they don't have the class of car you reserved. Insurance companies have their own insurance if their claims are higher than expected.
For MBB it could be "standing room only" or a guaranteed seat to a future game. However, I think they should just be transparent and say that tickets are for seating on a first-come-first-served basis.
