I think Minnesota was +1 before he left, though, because of Mbakwe being granted an extra year. So they'd sill need one more to leave...I think.

This opens up a scholarship for Mbakwe if he comes back, not Lockett. Someone else needs to leave.

I will say this, if the coach asked a player to leave so he could add a transfer that didn't choose them to begin with is low brow but that's my opinion.

Minnesota submitted a waiver for a 14th scholarship. Since they are having someone transfer i'm guessing that voids the waiver since they have 13 players to fill 13 scholarships when before they had 14 players to fill 13 scholarships. So therefore they need one more person to transfer to open up a scholarship for Lockett. Also it has been reported that Lockett's top 2 choices are Iowa State and Marquette.
