Re: Lucious vs Gesell
Don’t think you pencil in Gesell just yet. He’s talented, but a freshman point guard struggles no matter who it is.

Trey Burke did just fine this year, so did Rivers, Teague, and I'm sure there are plenty more. I'm not putting Gesell in the same ballpark as any of those guys by any stretch of the imagination, but to say that all freshman point guards struggle is just wrong.

You right Gessell should not be mentioned in the same ball park as the guys you mentioned.

All of those guys struggled at some point in the season. Burke I think did so well because no one was expecting him to. Teague played not up to his worth until the ncca tournament and rivers is not a pg.

Gesell barely made the 4-star cut on rivals...it's not like he is going to burn it up the minute he touches the floor. Gesell will have to adjust to the speed of the college game.

Some Iowa fans are getting borderline delusional when it comes to expectations for Woodbury/Gesell next year as true freshmen

okay, did I ever say he would burn it up?

Re: Lucious vs Gesell
I'm just excited that we are bringing in four pretty good recruits. A better class than we have had in the past and out of those four, only one I think will see significant minutes. Where as in previous years we would be forced to play the freshman or be shorthanded.

Woodbury vs any Zeller brother
Iowa fans hide their jealousy for Hoiberg by trumping up Fran and the Fight'n McCaffrey's bright future
Fred owns Fran...always will

And frankly, I don't think I could blame them for being excited about their class. We're very excited about ours, which is ranked far below theirs.
The bottom line is that no one really knows how good a class is until yr 2 anyway. By the middle of conference play in 2014, we'll have a pretty good idea how good Woodbury/Gesell/et al are and how good Naz/Okoro/SDW/Niang will be.

U obviously don't read HN. 80% of them think gessell will avg at least 8ppg and 4.5apg. some even have him over 5 a game which is asinine. Then about 70% think woodbury will avg at least 8ppg 6rpg and 1.5bpg. And that's AT LEAST. idk they are just expecting way to much from true freshman. there in for a major letdown.
And our class is WAY below there's?? I'm pretty sure there's is in the 20's and ours is in the 30's. We both have 2 top 125 players, iowas are ranked just slightly higher.
