If you've watched them plenty, then you obviously have a terrible idea of what good coaching is.

I guess if 20 win seasons and half of the time making the tourney is bad coaching......i guess so.

Like you wouldnt have killed for ISU to have that track record in the last decade...please.

You don't get it. Stop comparing us to Illinois. Of course we'd kill for 20 wins every season but Illinois has MUCH higher expectations than us year in and year out. This can not be debated. With all the talent Weber was pulling into Illinois, the should be much better than a bubble team every year. Get it?

You are talking expectations from an unrealistic fan base....of course nobody can argue against that....so stick to the facts of what he did. What some idiotic fan base thinks is irrelevant.......take the school out of it and look at what his record was everywhere hes been.....those are not average or medicore results.

When you compare it to the talent on the team, yes it is mediocre results.

Maybe......ill never say, and i dont think many coaches would say 20 win seasons are medicore or bad years, especially with that consistancy that he seemed to have. IMO Illinois is much like Mizzou......you have some major cities and recruiting bases to pick from....but both those programs are not elite contenders every year.....they have down periods...it happens even when you are just outside chicago, KC, St Louis, etc.

Im just saying i think hes a good coach....that his record speaks to that, not what some fan base with unrealistic expectations think. Im not cheering for the guy...i could care less....just was arguing about the "averageness" someone said he was.

Im not afraid of what Webber will do.....i just think hes a good coach....which was all i was trying to point out before the jihad came calling. :)
I guess my stance is we're about to found out just how "good" a coach Weber is at K-State. He had a lot of advantages there that don't exist at KSU and essentially didn't achieve at a high level, particularly the last five years when it's all his program. I don't think he's a disaster in waiting or anything, just mediocre. In my opinion, he was just scraping by at Illinois and is getting out ahead of the torch and pitchfork brigade there. I will be VERY surprised if he repeats the results of his Illinois years, but of course, KSU fans hope he does that. He's moving down from Illinois and that should tell you a lot. I reserve the right to be as wrong as a 3 dollar bill, but I don't think Weber will hold K-State at their recent level of success.

Thats true...i could see that. It may just not have been a good fit for him to get Illinois to the next level kind of like Alford at Iowa was not a good fit, but him in new mexico IS a good fit. Mcd at ISU not a good fit, but at Creighton it works.......

We aren't talking pre Gill/Bardo. We are talking the last 10 years. And if you've been watching them plenty, then you are really trying too hard to defend your position. In fact, you only have to go back the past 2 years to see just how terrible of a job Weber did.

Context my man.....he questioned how much Illini ball i had watched, so reasoning should say if i go back to those days, chances are good i still keep up with them. Last year was bad.....but he had 4 strraight 20 win seasons before that.

Hes a good, not great coach, certainly not terrible....lets move on.

Illinois is a much more prestigous as a basketball school than Mizzou, they also play in one of the top 2 or 3 talent rich states in the country. I'm not saying Weber isn't a decent coach but he's dropped them to their lowest point in recent memory, as far as national relevance. I think Mizzou as a bball school is content with what you mentioned, Illinois is not. The good thing is Kstate is closer to Mizzou than Illinois in that regard, if he can consistently knock down 20 win seasons in Manhattan no one will complain.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan.

Fair enough. I think he's better suited for a mid-major. He's a lot like McDermott. Neither of them can handle the bigger egos that go with the more talented players and it showed up in both their major gigs. I just don't see Weber having more success at KSU but what do I know.
