No one. These guys all need to be ready to play their soph year.
I don't get this argument. playing 2-5 mins in mop duty every 3rd game will not get them "ready" for next year. That's what the hundreds of practices vs big 12 caliber players are for. It's just a waste of a year.
Re: Sherron Dorsey-Walker
My official guess is no redshirts.

You're assuming that they'd only get 2-5 minutes of mopup duty every third game. That's why you don't get it.

Sometimes you have to promise no redshirting to land a kid. Let them play scrap minutes if they want. Should be able recruit every 4 years anyway.
Re: Sherron Dorsey-Walker
^^^^ no aclone. I get it. SDW and okoro will not see significant mins next year. its just not gonna happen unless there are injuries. We will only go 8 or 9 deep. Niang will have to play and will be the 1st or 2nd big off the bench. Naz has a chance to play but only if he is better than bubu, which he might be. SDW and okoro are behind babb clyburn and mcgee. Also, what if we get 2 transfers?? mop up duty at best!!
Re: Sherron Dorsey-Walker
3-4 minutes of real game experience is > than scout team action.
The only way you redshirt someone in our situation is if they are truly incapable of performing at a B12 level.
Hoiberg is not going to rely on redshirts in 2013the to be our starting backcourt
Re: Sherron Dorsey-Walker
The argument that they will play significant minutes is crazy. Playing two to five minutes in the first ten games and then playing one to three minutes during conference is what is most likely to happen. This isn’t the NBA, teams go three maybe four deep. Playing that limited amount of time would not help them at all, don’t even try to convince others that it is.

So, you think running the Cyclone offense in practice versus running the opponent's offense isn't valuable?
3-5 min/game will get you far more prepared than not playing at all for the 2013 season.

A. Fred likes 3 point shooters.
B. The three point shooters from the wing are Clyburn and McGee. SDW would be the third shooter. Simple enough.

Agreed. I see no possible way SDW, Niang and Long redshirt, unless one of them is completely out of their league against major competition.
Okoro may because he's probably a little less refined offensively and we already have our perimeter stopper (Babb).
I would be shocked of more than 1 of them redshirt and if I had to bet, I'd say none of them do.

If that is the case you don't want them to redshirt because you don't want to tie up a scholarship for 5 years on them. You play them a few mop up minutes here and there and if they stay fine, and if they transfer they can use the redshirt year at another school.

In that case, it's meaningless if they play or not. Maybe you give them a minute amount of mop up time ala Sledge, so that they can show some film when they look for new schools. Either way, Fred has made it clear that they will not be tying up a scholarship for 5 years.

ESPN is now scrolling Bo Ryan is banning SDW from wearing #4 at ISU. Wow. He's out of control.
