RECRUITING: A new prospect to keep an eye on

Exactly! What would make anyone think that a kid from Virginia that went to Virginia Tech would be interested in going to Iowa State? I just don't get why every single transfer that is a good player gets brought up on here. We are interested in players that we have connections with such as Lockett from Minnesota that we recruited out of high school, Uthoff that is from Cedar Rapids that we also recruited out of high school. I just don't get why people continue to bring up people such as Oriakhi and this kid when there is clear that we have no ties to any of these players.

I agree that the transfer threads have gotten a little overboard, but was there really any strong connection to Chris Allen, Chris Babb, Anthony Booker, Korie Lucious, or Jake Anderson prior to them transferring here? No, we're not going to go after every transfer under the sun, but just because their not from a neighboring state or weren't previously recruited doesn't mean there isn't interest.

There is nothing to this. he won't come to Iowa State. CW simply saw a kid was transferring and decided to throw his name out there. Sweet.

He said he had no idea if we were interested. The guy is 6'8 and we need post players. That's why he was brought up. There is no known connection to this guy so i don't understand why he is being discussed.

You do make a point. But with close to 400 transfers i don't see why we just target any talented transfer. There are a ton of talented transfers.

Again, do you really think Chris would bring up a name if he didn't think we would go after the kid? Go back and look at threads like this that Chris has started since he took over this site. Good luck finding a thread like this where the prospect ended up having no connections to ISU.

I mean, he does kind of fit the mold of the type of transfers we've gone after. Except for Uthoff and maybe Clyburn, it's not like all of the transfers are guys with obvious ISU connections. I think the defining characteristics of any ISU transfer have been:
a)Fills an obvious need (i.e. Korie Lucious)
b)Appears to be transferring for something other than character issues/outside pressure (i.e. Lockett instead of Oriakhi)

Going of those criteria, this doesn't look like some absurd guy to at least have on your radar if you follow recruiting.
