If it means you are tired of "big brother" claiming they are better than you in everything whether true or not, rubbing your face in any success they may have and pooh-poohing any success you have ad nauseum, then yes, guilty as charged.
I think just as big or even a bigger problem is a big brother delusion by just as many UofI supporters. Many have an inflated sense of superiority over Iowa State. This tends to breed the desire to refute the constant barrage of propaganda Cyclones endure.
In the end, I agree that there is too much comparing of ISU to Iowa.

Re: After this years NBA Draft
When it comes to comparisons of UI and ISU basketball - it isn't even close, & I don't even need to see the NBA draft info to know this to be true. I have attended many games at both Universities - even in the times when UI basketball was relevant - to know that the game day experience was and IS 100x better in Hilton! Now, that said, I believe that there is a little more excitement amongst their fan base after having made the Not Invited Tournament this year.
Utah Utes, Illinois Illini. The University of Pennsylvania thought about following this pattern by calling themselves the Pennsylvania Pencils. However, they were afraid their students would start chanting "We're No. 2" -

Re: After this years NBA Draft
As far as Iowa State-NBA connection, draft position is irrelevant beyond the short term.
If fans want to make ISU-Iowa comparison: How many players had longevity and/or impact at the pro level? Iowa State
Hornacek
Abdul-Aziz
Cato
Tinsley
Alexander
Hoiberg
Grayer
Fizer Iowa off the top of my head:
Don Nelson
Freddie Brown
John Johnson
B.J. Armstrong
Kevin Kunnert
Bobby Hansen
Connie Hawkins also probably counts.

In the end, I agree that there is too much comparing of ISU to Iowa. Living in eastern Iowa I grew up thinking that Iowa was our biggest rival in both sports that matter. I always heard from Iowa fans that the football game was our "super bowl", and at the time both basketball teams were pretty evenly matched. Once I started to pay more attention to sports I realized that Nebraska (IMO) was our biggest rival in football and obviously Kansas in basketball. Now Kansas is still our biggest rival in basketball, and it's hard to say in football. I would take a win over 3/4 of the big 12 rather than a win against the hawks. In the end I would agree that there is too much comparing of the two schools but it sure feels good to beat the the team who's fans think they are better than you.

I grew up an Iowa fan, so I'm kind of split half my life. To say Iowa has better history in basketball you have to count years that a majority of the current fans and students were not even old enough or alive to have followed.
Over the last three decades there's absolutely no more success out of Iowa than ISU in basketball. In the last two decades there's significantly more success from ISU in hoops.
Iowa fans are the ones always going nuts about putting players in the NFL as the ultimate barometer of success. Well ISU has had more players drafted to the NBA even with one of the Iowa picks being a hilarious typical New York Knicks screwup of drafting JR Koch.
