awesome read and true in every aspect
While I agree 100000% with the story, I don't agree with the headline. He's not being punished if he drops in the draft. NBA owners and execs have every right to do what they want when investing that amount of money into somebody. If White makes them uneasy so be it. I think it's a mistake, but not a punishment.
I understand the angle though and I think I like it.
It's going to require some balls to pick him early. That trait is lacking in average management. I still think he'll go 10-15.
Eddy Curry, to use on example, most likely has several dozen mental disorders that have not even been discovered yet. Royce has a better chance of curing cancer than that guy had of being a franchise cornerstone.
I could see him going to Minnesota at #18, I think they will deal Derrick Williams for a SG or SF, then I think Royce will would fit perfect as their 3rd big behind Love and Nikola Pekovic.
I live in Minneapolis so if they drafted White I'd be ecstatic but he doesn't fit their roster. The T-Wolves need a wing who can shoot ala Derrick Williams.
I love Williams' game but I'd like to see the Wolves trade Williams + to Charlotte who wants to move out of #2, draft Beal at 2 and Royce at 18
Rubio - Beal - ???? - Love - Pekovic
Bench- White, Barea, Ridnour, Wes Johnson
But I digress, this is a Clones forum afterall
If they move Williams to the 3, they still need a 3rd big and White would still fit and they worked him out the other day.

I'm tired of hearing about Royce's "anxiety issues." I can only imagine how he feels about it

Cavaliers report: Iowa State's Royce White an intriguing player - Cavs - Ohio
White, who measured 6-foot-8 at the combine, earned honorable mention All-America honors after playing one season at Iowa State. He was the only player in the nation to lead his team in five categories: scoring (13.4 points), rebounds (9.3), assists (5.0), steals (1.1) and blocks (0.9). He had 18 points and 17 rebounds against Kansas forward Thomas Robinson, who is expected to go within the top five picks of the draft, and he had 23 points and nine rebounds in an NCAA Tournament loss to a loaded Kentucky team that ultimately won the national championship.
Yet White is projected to go late in the first round and could be on the board when the Cavs select at No. 24. ......
His talent is tantalizing on the court. He is athletic enough to run the point and powerful enough to play on the blocks. He is considered a “point forward” and left teams walking away impressed at last week’s combine.
“He’s one of those guys who is hard to peg,” one Western Conference executive said at the combine. “He could be a late lottery pick or he could be on the board late [in the first round].” ....
