Disagree. Matt Thomas acknowledged it is his goal to get to the NBA and he thought FH would help get him there. Pelle want to come and visit because it is his goal to go to the NBA and he is intrigued with FH connections. Will Clyburn wants to go to the NBA; he wanted to take a redshirt year and put himself in the best position. Transferred to ISU and Fred and his connections. The reason we were able to get all of last year’s transfers was due to the Fact the Fred has connections to the league... Remember when they committed CFH hadn't coached 1 game.
Most importantly Fred stated in his opening news conference that his knowledge of the NBA was a way to attract players to Ames. He has every NBA GM's phone number on speed dial (not exact quote but to lazy this morning to look it up). Hoiberg has been validated on his statement and belief. While Royce has NBA talent he wouldn't have been drafted in last year’s draft without maturing with FH's help. Fred his system to fit Royce’s skill set into a point forward to highlight his skills and get him to the NBA's first round. As for your Ark St statement? ISU's national wins and exposure and good play against teams like Kansas, Baylor, Kentucky, and UConn (all with NBA players) increased his stock to a first rounder. He doesn't get that opportunity after one year at Ark State.
It is true that individuals go to the NBA. It is also true if you have a tradition of getting players to the NBA then you can recruit the type of players capable of getting there. Royce getting picked 16 shows that if you have the talent and work hard for Fred, he will work hard and use his connections to help your stock. (Eased the concerns of franchises over his past issues and anxiety).
Overall Royce getting drafted showed that what Coach Hoiberg has been saying for two years it true and be sure recruits have taken notice. Sorry for the rant.
Oh no! another Pelle reference
Fred and the NBA is exaggerted but he does it attract recruits and it works.
Royce was going to get drafted no matter what. He wasn't going to Ark state he was going to Kentucky if not here.
