Re: Quality recruits: Is anyone as worried as me that we won't get any more?
Players like Homan don't fit Fred's system. He needs lean bigs who can get up and down the floor.

We can afford to take some shots with these two in the fold, as well as maybe bringing in one project. Wouldn't surprise me if this class was one of our best ever.

It's probably paranoia, but ISU fans have had good reason to be paranoid. In particular, I'm worried traditional big men see ISU as unfriendly to post player development, given CFH's own history as a guard and his favoritism for smaller lineups and 4/5s who can shoot (Booker, Niang) and/or ball handle (White). Even with only one traditional big on the roster right now (Gibson) interest seems tepid, and although it's notoriously hard to judge what a recruit is thinking, none of them are saying things like "ISU seems like a good fit/nice place," etc.
On a side note, I'm mad that Marquette seems to be winning EVERY major recruiting battle with us. I counted five players with shortlists including ISU and Marquette, and four were eventually won by them, Thomas being the lone exception. I know they've had recent success, but surely their program isn't seen as THAT much better. This post is wrong on so many levels I dont know where to begin. I am sure Fred is sitting on his hands and figuring we dont have a shot with anyone. He is in on a few bigs, they just havnt comitted anywhere yet. Marquette in the last 10 years has been ahead of us, so its reasonable to say they do have a recruiting upper hand right now.

I believe we will see more of Fred's true style this upcoming season and the year after now that he is finally getting his guys into the system.

Not accusing CFH of sitting on his hands at all. My worries are in spite of everything he does, not because of anything he does or doesn't do (for example, I never said he was opposed to having traditional bigs or wasn't doing enough to get them, only that there might be the appearance that ISU is not a good place for them and therefore they won't come.) Originally Posted by cyguytillidie Players like Homan don't fit Fred's system. He needs lean bigs who can get up and down the floor. Homan could run the floor very well--Wayne Morgan's teams were even more up tempo than our current ones. Also, no reason we couldn't find a seven-footer who can run the floor, though getting such a talent to come here as opposed to Kentucky or Kansas would be tough.

Should be. It's already almost there. You could say that it already is. Two great commits and more sure to follow.

Re: Quality recruits: Is anyone as worried as me that we won't get any more?
If we fill the rest of this class with (gasp) 3 or even 2 star recruits it will be a good class. Everyone keeps forgetting the players on the roster coupled with the 2012 recruiting class. I will take two 4* recruits per class every year.
