For non insiders it talks about how he was an unpopular name to maryland fans and also how he missed plenty of shots and turned the ball over a lot at Michigan State. Quoted Hoiberg on saying how Lucious will be the traditional point guard that Iowa State needed last year. Then talked about how Lucious will need to pick up a lot of the slack for the loss of Royce and Chris Allen scoring production. This writer said Lucious will be the highest scorer on the list of transfers that were mentioned.


No idea how they keep leaving out Clyburn. He averaged 17 and 8 and was 2nd team all conference. He had one other player on his team that was decent that year so he was dealing with all sorts of double teams and different defenses. So it's not like he was left wide open every game averaging 17 and 8. He will be our leading scorer and has the potential to be a first rounder. No idea why he keeps getting left out.


In other news bleacher report did their list of top 20 transfers and Clyburn and Lucious both made the list!

I'm not surprised. ESPN only truly follows about 30 FB programs and 50 MBB programs. IMHO

Lucious was at Michigan St which is on that list, while Clyburn was at Utah , which is not.

It's easier to keep talking about the same programs every day instead of actually doing some reporting work and learning about other schools/players.

Lucious Stats(3 years at Michigan State):

-Granted Lucious only played half the minutes that Clyburn did, didn't have as big of role as Clyburn, and also played with better players than Clyburn. He shows that he can score and pass. He has a 1.6 to 1 assist to turnover ratio which is solid. He doesn't shoot it that well percentage wise and shoots twice as many 3's as 2's. So his shot selection isn't the best. He also needs to get to the free throw line more. Hopefully with a year off he worked on all of these things. If he did i see him averaging 10 pts 5 assists per game.

-Clyburn didn't play with the best players at Utah and had a huge role there. He also played double the minutes that Lucious did. He obviously can score and rebound very well. He shoots a great percentage from 2 and 3 which shows that he must have good shot selection. He also shows that he can take it to the hole and hit the deep ball. He gets to the line with ease as well. He needs to work on taking care of the ball as he had a 1 to 2.5 assist to turn over ratio. I could see Clyburn having a similar season to his season at Utah and being a first rounder by the time next June comes around.

Lucious's playing time is going to be a lot higher than 17.5 mpg this year, hopefully his production isn't effected in a negative way from that.

Clyburns should stay about the same, maybe a little less. I'm excited to see how well Clyburn can play with more talent around him.

this attitude from some cyclone fans that espn is out to get us/screw us/overlook us is getting old, IMHO. espn has dozens of writers/analysts that follow college hoops, several of them full-time, who write articles almost daily, year round.

jay bilas, fran fraschilla, and myron metcalf have all been on campus in the last 12-18 months, dana oneil went on the tailgate tour to profile hoiberg, dave telep just wrote about matt thomas/monte morris and profiled hoiberg/isu, andy katz wrote his article about us in the b12 summer preview, eamonn brennan is from iowa, jason king lives in KC and has covered the b12 for years, their east coast scouts raved about niang all last summer and guys like ken pomeroy and gassaway are stat geeks who write against the grain all the time....i mean, what the heck to we expect. all this given our recent record is a ridiculous amount of coverage.

Cylburn played for an awful Utah program and was overshadowed by the MWC having some NBA caliber players, and he only played 1 season after playing juco, no big surprise he's not a household name. I think he'll prove this list wrong but I'm not offended or shocked he was left off.

I find myself scratching my head every time someone reads a preseason article and aren't completely satisfied with the amount of credit given to Iowa State and always has to complain about it in CF....and every season, football and basketball, it always happens....Why is it hard for people to find it possible that the teams that win on a consistent basis, a.k.a. the powerhouses, would receive the most notoriety because more often than not, they have more fans and detractors that are willing to read it, it seems a simple concept to comprehend...but apparently not many people are willing to take off their cardinal and gold color glasses to see the real world for what it is....
