You can be a run and gun with a 35-second shot clock. All this would do is make more teams be a run and gun and defenses would be more ready for that style of play.

I personally would like to see them go to 30 seconds like the women's game. 35 seconds is too long and 24 is too short.

Interesting takes. Some one in the comments suggested a 30 second shot clock. that could be a nice compromise to keep games from getting to boring, but having the chance to slow things down is what makes march madness, well, madness.

Interesting concept. It would certainly make for more scoring. As far as Hoiberg's system, this would fit with how we play already. It probably wouldn't hurt our style as much as some teams, like Wisconsin.

It needs to change. I don't understand why the women only get 30 seconds, but the men need 35. I mean, really? How about some equality. 30 seconds seems fine to me. I wish HS had shot clocks too at 30 seconds (Massachusetts has them).

If equity is the issue why not change the WBB shot clock to 35? Frankly, I think that 30 was due to a mistaken idea that women athletes couldn't play D for 35 seconds.

Aren't there enough ill advised shots jacked up in college basketball already? Let's rush them and see if we can get a few more!

You make it seem like people want the shot clock at 8 seconds. 30 seconds is more than enough time to get into your offense and get off a quality shot and you if can't, then get a better offense.

Why mess with a good thing? I can't think of any problems with the current shot clock.

It reminds me of football where they seem to change some rules on kickoff every year, either the clock running, or where they kick from, or now the touchback at the 25.

The second paragraph was more toward the 24 seconds than your suggestion of 30. 11 Fewer seconds is a huge change.

I guess I don't see the problem with 35 seconds.

I just think it gives teams too much time to sit on the ball and waste clock.
