Good. We needed a big man something fierce.

A good thing about him only having 1 year is that we don't have 6 freshman clogging schollys for years while not being good enough to play like Railey. This opens up a spot for a 2014 guy too.

He's not the usual JC transfer as he's older which should help the adjustment to the Big 12. Godfrey went from high school to the Big 12 and made a significant contribution the second half of the season, so no reason Amardi couldn't as well. Don't forget we have had recent success with one-year players from the JC ranks.

It's a shame we can't just get him this coming season :)

He was injured for the end of that season, then next season had problems with his visa so he redshirted I believe.

I've heard multiple people mention that with such a big recruiting class to fill for next year, they'd like us to bank a scholarship or two for 2014 to even things out a bit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a perfect alternative. Worst case scenario is that the kid never contributes and it is the equivalent of banking a scholarship for the following year. Best case scenario is that the kid contributes a bunch at a position where we have some of our most needs. Seems like the perfect fit to me for our current situation personally. The only argument against this is that we should have waited as we are going to fill this class with all top 150 talent that are all going to contribute right away. If that is the case, then maybe this is a mistake, I just highly doubt we are going to fill ALL our scholarships with that kind of talent.

Could this guy even basketball himself out of a wet paper bag? Not enough starzz for my exquisite taste.

Ya, everyone knows it's impossible for a JC guy to step into a starting role and be a solid contributor year 1 in basketball.
You have HS players that have gone to the NBA and started from day 1, so why would you assume a Juco player who is 22 couldn't play in the B12? He will be older than the vast majority of players he'll be playing against.

I like this get.
And off topic from this a bit.. looking ahead at that scholarship chart, with some solid bigs signed up for the 2014-15 and 2015-2016 seasons, we could be scaaaary.
