I didn't know he was at a Junior College now. I guess it makes sense though so that he can get his grades better and be eligible for the 2013-14 season. That would be great to have him for 2 seasons. Naz and Monte probably wouldn't be too thrilled about it since he would arrive for Naz's Sophomore and Junior seasons, and then Monte's Freshman and Sophomore seasons. Also this probably wouldn't help our chances with Clayton Custer since Jones would be a senior during his freshman year. If we signed Jones I would imagine Naz or Monte would end up transferring if Jones was the starter.
So is this school going to be unreal this year? Since they have two Iowa State commits who are supposed to be pretty good?
And a Marquette commit in Mckay, they usually are pretty good anyway.
They had a lot of Big 12 bodies on last year's squad. My impression was that with the proper coaching (and grades) the team could have been competitive in many major conferences. I think the biggest challenge is to pick the players that will respond to team ball...many of the Juco's try to be the "man".
WTF are you talking about. Those guys have a lot of eligibility, what sense would it make to transfer out, sit another year when they could be starting for ISU that season, just to play somewhere else? Besides, you can't be afraid to get competition. If you do that, you will be stuck with a mediocre team.
And people, this guy is 5'7" tall and played in the terrible pac 12? what makes people think he would even be worth getting? color me confused. I bet Monte and others have a good shot starting over him. Just saying.
Can anyone sum up the Clayton Custer article on CycloneReport?
Can he play wide receiver? CPR needs some help.
If Maurice Jones came in and was a starter or played significant minutes this would move either Naz or Monte down to third string PG on the depth chart. This would lead to one of them transferring. And Clayton Custer might go elsewhere where he can play right away his freshman year. That's WTF i'm talking about.
MM and Naz are combo guards. We will probably run a lot of 3 guard sets, and some 4 guard line ups. Anywhere these guys are going to go is going to have competition, especially if they want to win.
I don't see this as a huge problem frankly. For all we know, MM and Naz are better than Maurice. With that said, both MM and Naz may struggle to be the primary PG for a year or so and this would give them time to develop.
