RECRUITING: Potential transfer visiting next week
According to a source, former USC Trojan Maurice Jones is scheduled to visit Iowa State next week. As far as I know, Iowa State has not extended an offer.
Jones, a 5-foot-7 point guard, averaged 13 points and 5.5 assists per game last season. He was recently ruled academically ineligible for the 2012-13 season.
This one seems to be pretty up in the air. No imminent offer or anything like that.
According to research I've done, Jones currently has an offer from Detroit but I can't any other schools in the mix at this point. Maurice Jones academically ineligible to play for USC Trojans -- men"s college basketball - ESPN -

CFH has been pretty successful so far with Spartan transfers, I don't see why that wouldn't also extend to Trojans.

So pretty much, this guy is great, just under recruited due to academics and size?

So, what are the specifics on him in regards to eligibility? Can he play in 2013 and how many years does he have left?

Man lemme see.....a tiny point guard with academic issues when we already have solid point guards this year and for the foreseeable future?
Umm....no thanks.

Umm....no thanks. Hey, his team did win 6 games last year so he was a team leader on a bowl eligible team...oh wait wrong sport.

Visiting doesn't mean offered. And since when is having too many GOOD players a bad thing? Only risk here seems to be the academics issue.

I'm going to go ahead and say it, I don't think he's good. It seems like most people don't understand how all time bad USC was last year. He also shot 36% from the floor and only averaged 3.5 assists, not 5.5 like CW said, to 2.3 turnovers.

Re: RECRUITING: Potential transfer visiting next week
as of today, heading into start of practice in 2013, we'll have 1 pg on the roster (long) who has yet to play a game and will have a whopping 1 year experience. we'll have a frosh in morris, who for all we know, may be better off as a combo guard and not a pure pg.
getting any sort of talent/experience at PG for 2013 would be a huge improvement.

As in possibly the worst team to ever play in the Pac-10 bad. Second of all, the fact that he's a 36% volume shooter means he's not that good. The fact that he's 5'7 and has academic issues are just additional reasons why I would not be excited about this transfer.
