These guys are making some huge strides! I love it! Exciting to see the strength! I know it's not everything in basketball but it will definitely help out.

I'm surprised that SDW can bench 235, he's a stick! Definitely a good thing though!

Diante garrett failed to bench 125 when he arrived on campus. Not making that up either.

    Re: MBB Bench Press

I could care less how much they bench, how much do they squat, or hang clean, bench press isn't that much of a measure of the overall strength of a person.

Overrated in basketball anyway, I remember people freaking out when Kevin Durant couldn't put up 185 at the NBA combine. Nice to see our guys gaining strength though.

    Re: MBB Bench Press

i used to think (starting in the LE days) that the bench press/strength training mattered in basketball. then kevin durant came along and kind of blew up that thesis.

    Re: MBB Bench Press

I do think strength is important. Kevin Durant is that kind of rare player who is 6'10" but can handle like a PG. he's got abilities that are so immense that he doesn't need added strength for a slight advantage.

But for the vast majority of players, they can gain an advantage, especially defensively and rebounding by gaining strength.

For Booker and Percy and the rest of our bigs, I think bench pressing can be helpful. I want them as strong as possible and hopefully they will play with that type of football player mentality in the paint.
