I get what you're saying about Texas, Baylor, KU, WVU having high end talent, with the others I don't see some awesome returning talent that jumps OU, OSU, and KSU above us. I'll be absolutely shocked if all 3 of them improve past us this year. OU returns everyone and adds a stud transfer. OSU gets Olukemi back, plus adds a super stud frosh. KSU made the second round of the tourney last year and returns everyone (except samuels and their coach).
did you forget it took us last second shots to beat OSU and KSU at home last year?
you have three schools with coaches who never miss the tourney: WVU, TX, and KU.
you have two schools loaded with nba talent, including likely lottery picks: OSU and Bay
you have two schools that return essentially their entire team from last year: OU and KSU
that's why we're picked 8th. i think we're going to be good, but that why I said i had no issue with the coaches ranking us 8th (and let's face it most coaches (or their SID) probably spent 45 seconds on this process).

Somebody needs to step up and knock them off, or they are gonna go "John Wooden" on us and rack up something like, 10-11-12 consecutive titles. And the B12 will start getting ribs from outsiders that we are a Big 1 + 11 dwarfs conference; resembling CUSA. You may want to do a recount.

Still disagree that there's any reason for OU/OSU/KSU to be above ISU other than ignoring who ISU is added that's already been practicing with the team and pumping up unproven freshmen, transfers matter for other teams but not us, and a 9ppg player coming off ACL surgery is NBA megastar potential.
I watch 10x more NBA than college and OU, OSU and KSU are not returning epic NBA talent, nothing more than Will Clyburn in terms of that. Maybe they have top five pick one and done freshman megastars and transfers coming in because I don't follow recruiting but I saw nothing last year that I didn't think ISU plus it's own additions won't match up well against.

Remember when A&M was supposed to be co-champs last year?

We could have gotten 8x #7 and 1x #6 = 8x3+1x4 = 28
Chances are it's more of a mixed bag than that, but it's possible all the coaches thought of us as 6th or 7th place and the totals just worked out to 8th vs the totals of the other teams.

I feel good about the season. Hilton should be rocking all season and if the Clones hold home court well this season then pick up some wins on the road last season I think they can finish top 4.
I think they will win on the road for a few reasons
1. Senior Leadership
2. Improved defensive abilities
3. Depth of bench
4. Less reliance on the 3 ball
Last year we lived and died by the 3 ball and it was brutal at times. Being able to still shoot the 3 is key but ISU has many more options for points this season so needing one guy to be "hot" is not as necessary. Couple that with leaderhip and improved defensive play and the Clones should have a high probability of success in each game this season.

OU, KSU, and OSU had a combined six players. coaches think their returning talent is better than ours.

Come to think of it, the "Big 9 plus Kansas" works for both sports.

Wow, the BigXII is a small league this year. Of the preseason 1st-team and honorable mentions (11 players total), only Withey, Osby and Austin are taller than 6'7". The rest are all guards.
Also, why is the transfer who averaged 12 and 6 at Wyoming the newcomer of the year instead of the transfer who averaged 17 and 8 at Utah? Jackson Leads Preseason All-Big 12 Squad - Big 12 Conference - Official Athletic Site
