That's a very limited sample, especially with the parameter in bold...we're probably only talking about a handful of coaches who have ever experienced this situation. But a couple I can think of are Jerry Tarkanian, and even though he wasn't fired for a scandal, Tom Davis got Drake moving in the right direction after several years out of coaching. I'm sure there are more, but those are the two that I can think of right now.

Nobody made me apathetic about ISU BBall more than Wayne Morgan.

His last season was such a disappointment, but it really seemed he had the ship moving in the right direction making the NIT final 4 and then the round of 32 in his first couple years. I wasn't paying too much attention to recruiting at that time, so maybe I didn't notice the warning signs as much as some others did, but I was definitely more jacked during the Morgan years than I was during the McValley era.

I think we can all agree that Morgan and McDermott were bad coaches for Iowa State. Although the proof is in the pudding. Morgan did take the Cyclones to the postseason. McDermott did not.

For Iowa State's worst coach I'm going to go with Randy Brown.

I'm sure there are more, but those are the two that I can think of right now. There are plenty of coaches who have had something bad about them or a scandal or what not and never gone back to NCAA coaching again. For example..Kelvin Sampson. There's a reason he's in the NBA now.
The Tarkanian case was not as clear cut as that. To start with, the investigation started in 1971 while the UNLV coach was John Bayer. John Bayer basically quit UNLV in 1973 and never went back to coaching. Jerry Tarkanian was at Long Beach State until 1973 when he joined UNLV, when Bayer left. The violations came to light in 1977, even though the investigation started into violations that was there when Tarkanian was not. So violations started with one coaching staff, and then the next coaching staff who had nothing to do with the first continued it? Okay..possible, but not as likely.
Furthermore, the allegations were pretty much all based on word of mouth. There's a reason why this type of "evidence" is no longer accepted in cases by the NCAA. It's all because of the Tarkanian case. The case went to the Supreme Court and it's what was found by it. The NCAA changed its ways based on the amount of bias from the committee handling the case based on evidence which couldn't even be proven.
Not to mention, the guy is one of the best coaches in NCAA history. 18 NCAA tournaments. 1 championship, 3 Final Fours, etc. Almost an 80% winning percentage. There are schools who will take chances on exceptional coaches, even if what happened to them was BS (i.e. Tarkanian). There's a reason he sued the NCAA, and in the long run, the NCAA changed its ways based off it everything that happened.
Wayne Morgan was a decent coach, but not exceptional like Tarkanian or Callipari.

Floyd, Larry, Orr, Freddie Wanye, Gmac.....
In 10 years I'll say Freddie is at the top of that list, he just has too little a sample size yet but to his credit he inherited a much worse off program than all of those other guys.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan. -

I think you also have to look at how those two coaches did do at other schools. McDermott has gone to the NCAA and had really good teams at two other schools. Morgan? They both sucked, but I have to go with Morgan.
Also, marothisu. Selective quoting isn't helping you. In a article that you provided a link to as evidence: Morgan said his firing this week had nothing to do with a CBS Sportsline report on the Cyclones using a company called D1 scheduling for non-conference games in exchange for recruiting. Morgan said he was told the basketball program should be the marquee of the athletic department but "we don't think you can do that." In another article USATODAY.com - Iowa State fires coach Wayne Morgan Jamie Pollard said men's basketball coach Wayne Morgan and his staff were fired after considering "many, many factors," and indicated a lack of trust in the coaches being able to meet athletic department goals "(Pollard) said they were firing me, not for doing anything wrong, but because of the direction they thought the program was headed." After the Sunday night NIT selections, Pollard told The Des Moines Register: "We've got to find a way to see that this does not happen again. We shouldn't be in this position. -

McDermott should never be allowed in the State of Iowa...along with his relative that use to patrol this board spreading propaganda as his regime crumbled.
