    Re: ***Official ISU/Minnesota State Post-Game***

-Lucious is going to be a much better shooter than he was at MSU, look at DG's improvement w/ 1 year of Fred. Saw his shot in CCL and already knew his shot had improved. For this being his first game, he did some really good things in the transition and will only improve w/ timing and reading defenses. I absolutely love how he guards w/ other pg's. He is so quick and was very aggressive in the beginning. McGee was feeding off of that intensity.

    -McGee is nuts! enough said

-Clyburn needs to jump when he shoots. He is much smaller than I thought he would be, granted he had the longest arms on the court, but they looked like tooth picks. Physically he looks like Wesly Johnson when he was here. He would have benefited from some added lbs, would have allowed him to be much more aggressive down low in B12 games. But Fred doesn't sound worried so I trust him.

-Niang is going to be a very fun guy to build our program around in the next 4 years. Very impressed with him as a freshman, looked a little out of shape but has a TON of talent. He will be a very very good player.

-Long was very impressive. Doesn't play like a feshman at all. I thought he looked like more of a combo guard yesterday, than he did in the CCL. Later in the 2nd half he was organizing the offense as the shot clock ran down, pointing ppl around, called for a screen then made a nice 3 pt as the shot clock was running down. Very impressed with his poise. He will be another person to build the program around w/ Niang.

-I really like how fred is getting his freshman. Naing and Long will be the stars of the future Sr. class, but then you ad in SDW for some hustle, and obvious shooting ability. And Oroko (sp?) looks NYC tough. He may have the most B12 ready body of our freshman, tho we didn't see much of him, he just looked tough. Then next year you add Matt Thomas (scotty 2.0) and Morris and it will be a very good group to build around. Will need a Cato type player.

Yes, you have to be very excited about our backcourt for the next few years with this year's FR along with Matt Thomas, Morris and Maurice Jones for next year.

Those guys along with Niang, Ejim and Percy will provide a pretty solid crew. If we can add another guy who is very physical in the paint, we should be pretty good again next year.

Talked to CFH later in the day. You might want to know that he doesn't share your "means nothing" attitude. He mentioned that losing to Marathon Oil his senior year ended up being a positive as Floyd would remind them of it throughout the season.

Maybe, but Marathon Oil was a different exhibition opponent. They were made up of post-collegiate Division 1 players who were good, but not good enough to make the NBA - an early version of the NBDL. Except they probably got paid more

As i re-call, Marathon Oil beat a lot of good teams in exhibition that year. Looked around the Internet graveyard for stats on that team, but couldn't find any. The NCAA banned these type of teams playing exhibition somewhere in the 2003-05 range.

We won our exhibition by 33 yesterday, so I'm not sure we need to argue about whether it's good to lose to Marathon Oil in the 90's.
