Me after the preseason, but not if you would have asked me 6 months ago.

Re: Diante Garrett
had a better showing than wesley johnson. 1 reb. 1 assist. 1 TO, 1 foul, and 0-2 on shooting.

Re: Diante Garrett
So happy for a guy that stuck with ISU, played his guts out, even though he never got to the NCAA. What a recruiting tidbit for FH too.

Re: Diante Garrett
Now that he has officially played in the NBA somebody needs to dig up the threads where the basketball "experts" said he would never sniff the NBA so we can make fun of them.

There was some people really down on him his freshman-junior years, at various points. And then people got a little too high on him his senior year. I think I was one of the few who didn't think he ever changed that much, besides normal progression, but just got the opportunity to take more shots as a senior. He always had the length, quickness, and passing ability necessary to develop into a backup PG in the league. The stuff we saw his senior year - shooting like crazy, basically - wasn't anything that's ever going to be asked of him in the league, so I don't think that year changed the minds of NBA scouts like some people here thought it did.

It was never his shooting that anybody thought would land him in the NBA. It was his ability to get to the rack, against any defender, any time he wanted. He was lightning quick, even his freshman year. What Freddy did was give him the green light to do what he does - penetrate and create. McDoormat forced him into a system that shackled his strengths.
