Bovada in Vegas has posted odds of winning NCAA men's basketball title. KY 6/1, Iowa State 125/1, Iowa 150/1 (no odds on UNI, Drake).

I've had the thought some day in the way distant future, Iowa State will win an NCAA basketball championship, but at that time in the future nobody will even consider MBB a significant sport, or winning the Dance a significant accomplishment......sigh

Why would this happen? Because football would become the only sport people care about? I think there's some evidence supporting you in the fact that MBB has been virtually ignored throughout the conference realignment ****show.

I kind of worry about this, too, to be honest.

The odds of Iowa State and Iowa being National Champions are about the likelyhood of you getting struck by lightening. Dream on!

Why would I want to dream about being hit by lightning? That would be a terrible thing to happen to me.

I would think that the odds would have to be significantly worse than even that since there can be only one National Champion each year.

The media gave everybody the idea that everything is football driven but in reality it was driven by TV households. Look at the schools that actually left. Nebraska, Colorado, Syracuse, Pitt, A&M, Missouri and Utah. Only one of those schools was a football power and that school has a national TV audience. A&M has somewhat of a football rep but the main thing the second biggest school in the state of TX. K-State is a perfect example, they've been much better than A&M in the conference but nobody wanted them. If they go undefeated and win a NC do you think the SEC, Big 10 or PAC will be knocking their door down? No, there's just not enough TV's in Kansas for the rest of the nation to care and K-State sure doesn't carry a national TV audience like Nebraska.

The only reason people outside of Nebraska tune in is in hope that they lose.

Not so sure anyone tunes into to watch Nebraksa besides nebraskans. I used to watch just do to them being so good. Much like I will watch Oregon, USC, Bama. Just because they are so good.

Ok. Maybe I was under-estimating the odds of Iowa or Iowa State winning the National Championship in Basketball.

Let me retract the being struck by lightening odd comparison...

The odds is equivalent to you being attacked by a Cougar in a wooded area at dusk.

Which actually the reports of this happening are on the rise, so feel good about that!

Both are programs on the rise, in a sport where upsets and unexpected tournament runs are not completely uncommon. I think we will see one of the programs go to the Final Four in the next decade.

Just wait. A couple more generations of "everyone gets a trophy" and anything is possible.

A major plus to this program during our final games this year is we are fast. When we play in the Big XII tournament, all teams will be tired, but we will be running up and down the court faster than any other team minus Baylor, maybe K-State, and W.V.
