I assume ISU is recruiting this kid, simply because I'm enough of a dork to notice he was one of Coach O's friends on myspace. Xavier Thames - Basketball Recruiting

Buckley is definitly more of a pure point than Garrett, but I think we'll continue to see Garrett play a little point because he's good with the ball in his hands.

We're not even in his considerations.

im more worried about the big man in 2009 when we lose Juri. anyone know anything about Justin Hamilton? i think we will be fine next year when we get our this years PG's recruits used to DMacs system. we will lose some games were not suppost to, but i think we can upset some big teams.

I don't have any inside information but I will tell what I've learned about hamilton from around here, etc. He's tall at almost 7 ft but a stick. Really a stick. He has decent mobility, hands, atheletic ability, and work ethic. In other words a couple years out under Mac's coaching he should provide some inside help. But in the short term as in next year or possibly even the one after that I wouldn't count on much. I and I think many here consider Justin's first year a lock for a redshirt. He needs to put on 30-40 lbs before he can contribute and hopefully a bunch more than that before he's done. I also believe this is why Vette was such a good pickup; I think Vette has alot more upside, short term, than the other incoming big.

I think Braackins will see more time at the 5 next year, and hopefully we'll be able to get enough contributions from CJ and Vette from the 4.

Brackins is a true power forward. More likely to see Vette and CJ at the 5 imo. But under McDermott's offense, I'm not sure there's much difference between the 4 and the 5. /shrug

As far as Hamilton goes, the only perspective I have of his ability to contribute right away is from an article on ESPN.com a week or two back highlighting the Big 12's Recruiting thus far. Here's a quote from Iowa State's portion:
"Hamilton, with current Iowa State center Jiri Hubalek scheduled to depart in 2008, also has a chance to see significant playing time when he arrives on campus. Hamilton runs the floor very well for a big and blocks shots at a very high rate. He plays with a high level on energy and competes for rebounds, though he needs to improve his post game and add strength for the rigors of the Big 12." ESPN.com 2008 Big 12 Recruiting Breakdown
Hard to say whether or not they actually know much about the kid, though...I agree with RickyBaby in that he looks like a stick...

Cory Johnson is definitely not a 5. I think 4 and 5 are interchangeable nowadays unless you have a 7 footer, but I think we will see Brackins and Thompson at the 5 and Johnson and Vette at the 4. But like you said, I don't think it really matters.
