There are 4-year starting guards that don't get 2 blocks in their careers...
I hope he has lots of success.
Ever seen him play? His vertical has to be in the mid 40s..That's how he's averaging 7 rebounds/game so far probably. Guy can flat out jump. He's like a Nate Robinson type athletically (but probably a little faster).
He got a "hardship waiver" which the NCAA has just begun to crack down on, so he got lucky.
I believe the guidelines are something like:
"Season-ending injury or illness occurs before the completion of the first half of the traditional playing season, results in incapacity to compete for remainder of season"
"has competed in less than one third of the maximum contests/DOC for the sport plus one."
What you are listing are the medical redshirt requirements (correct for beginng of season with season-ending injury/illness, completed number is 30% rounded up).
What Sledge rec'd was a waiver to the transfer rule (sitting out one year). From other threads, his father is sick enough and he transferred close enough to his father that the NCAA granted the request.
The NCAA has been inconsistant in applying the rule, and has come up with some clarification. Still need family sickness/"emergency", but new school must be within 100 miles of "home".
