I'm not saying that is what is going to happen, but I am definitely becoming increasingly concerned. Very well said. I applaud Royce for his openness/honesty with it all, I just think he could get more positive headlines if he showed you can be successful with proper management. There was that golfer this weekend that was hospitalized for an anxiety attack and then returned the next day this past weekend. I heard an interview with him and I thought he did a great job talking about it.

Re: Royce White headed to D-league??
His anxiety hasn't stopped him from tweeting up a storm the last few days but (allegedly) is keeping him from practicing? I love Royce but I feel like we're watching a career circle the drain. The NBA has enough talent to pick from that they don't need to or have the patience for dealing with this kind of act.

His anxiety didn't make him show up out of shape either.

Re: Royce White headed to D-league??
He needs to find someone that can really help him. He ought to be worth that. I don't give up on him. This story is far from over.

Have to agree with Cysk, having his mom around would help stabilize his home as well as lend the voice of experience that he may need to keep the leaches away from him. Some people are wonderful actors when it comes to manipulating in order to further gain for themselves.

Re: Royce White headed to D-league??
There is point in everyone's lives where they have to take responsibility. Can't baby sit a grown man.

Re: Royce White headed to D-league??
Sorry Cycsk, I misspelled your name in my last post. I do agree that you shouldn't have babysit a grown man but when said grown man is 21-22 years old and comes into a lot of money and goes into a profession loaded with vultures it doesn't hurt to have a more experienced voice to lend a voice.

Re: Royce White headed to D-league??
I have heard some accounts that RW is really only in it for the money, fwiw. Hope he can do all right in the NBA, things seemed to go south as soon as he got paid.

Rockets’ White AWOL Again « NBA.com | Hang Time Blog
Sounds like Rockets rookies regularly see some D League action. However, there is more unknown news going on with Royce.
“That’s tenuous and it’s tough to talk about something like that, but I think we can handle it internally,” said Rockets owner Leslie Alexander. “If he doesn’t work out, well, it’s tough to lose a draft choice.
“I feel bad for Royce and I feel very bad for the team. We’ve had internal repercussions which I’m not going to talk about.”

Re: Royce White headed to D-league??
“None of us have seen Royce. He didn’t come to the game and missed three or four practices. We haven’t seen him. I text him all the time, make sure he’s doing fine, but he hasn’t texted back.”
Hmmm....

Re: Royce White headed to D-league??
Give Royce a break. Anxiety is serious, debilitating condition. We'd all love the Cinderella story. It may happen, it may not happen. Royce has always been very open about his anxiety issues. He made it clear that anyone drafting him was taking a chance on him. He could easily have swept it under the carpet, or at least downplayed it. It's easy for us to sit back and say, "we support Royce as long as he's beating anxiety, but not when he appears to be losing his battle against anxiety." But it might be wiser for us to see how this plays out. I would be delighted if this works out for Royce. But I certainly wouldn't feel let down if it does not work out.

Royce was one of the country's best HS basketball players. Had it not been for that fact he probably wouldn't have received multiple chances to straighten himself out in college and be drafted as high as he was in the NBA. A Cinderella he most certainly is not.
Nobody is downplaying the impact of his anxiety disorder. Cyclone fans, more than anyone else on the planet, are sympathetic to him. Hell, we embraced him when no one else would. We support him but we don't support the way he's going about his business right now. It's like I said earlier, at some point you gotta show up and do the work. You can't be the guy that overcomes mental illness to play in the NBA if you don't 1) overcome mental illness and 2) play in the NBA.
And right now he seems intent on doing neither. I'm simultaneously concerned for him, disappointed with him, and hopeful for his future.
