I don't see the way out other than him quitting NBA. For you who are in the supervisory or managerial position, I think you'll know what your answer if one of your subordinates say something similar to above. From a mangerial point, yes......you would demote him, or give him less responsibility until he got his act together, which is exactly what it appears the Rockets were trying to do by sending him to the D-League along with some of the other rookies. I'm sure they think it would be a better situation for him to work into professional basketball, and get the playing time he needs to develop. It doesn't sound like that is acceptable to him though, which, imo, is just childish on his part.
He is a rookie. He has proven nothing as far as what kind of player he can be in the NBA.
Just think how much of a stronger impact he could make for the mental illness/anxiety cause if he would take care of business and become a star in the league. Now...... that would be a platform.

If this is correct, I do not see what choice management has other than to let go or reassign Royce as he has stated he is unwilling to work in the current environment he is in.
Given that Royce is a significant investment for the Rockets and that they would be foolish to concede it so early, I think the best course of action right now is for Royce to be sent down to the D-League so he can learn to play professional basketball and manage his anxiety in an environment less demanding than the NBA. While there, hopefully he can develop his ability to manage his anxiety in a less demanding professional setting so that he can later return to the Rockets and be a contributing member of their team.
I don't like coming to the conclusion that I did because I am a big fan of Royce trying to do his part to remove the stigma of mental illness by being so open and public about it. However, I think Royce's actions are only validating the stigma, and at this point, he simply needs to do everything he can to show the Rockets the he is worth the risk they took. The first thing Royce can do to advance his cause is to be a valuable member of the team as no advocacy or publicity he generates will have any positive effect if he shows that the risk the Rockets took on him wasn't worth it.
I really, really hope this ends up well for Royce, but given all the continuous drama, if I had to guess, I'm afraid I would say that it will not.

Re: Royce White Trending on Twitter tonight
This kind of reminds of a girl I used to work with that demanded that she get to take her cat to work because of her depression. Both her and Royce have illnesses that are extremely difficult to deal with, but it's also difficult for employers to deal with these things, especially when the person with the illness is making a public stink about it.

Re: Royce White Trending on Twitter tonight
All the misdirection from @HoustonRockets about the "medical help" is laughable. I told them I would like to see MY doctor for 3yrs.
Royce just be quiet!!
You are not winning!!!!!!!

Re: Royce White Trending on Twitter tonight
This has been mentioned before: Who would want Royce White at this point? I understand he has a mental illness, and that is an unfortunate condition for one to have. I get that. But, to constantly get on twitter and just spout off about awareness is getting to be too over the top!!
Royce has been vocal about mental illness on twitter even before pre-season began, but not to this current frequent rate. I had told my father even before the season started that I suspected Royce was going to use the Mental Illness card as to why he wasn't getting playing time. Using the illness as a crutch is just wrong!
I would be surprised if he recovers from this latest drama and plays a minute of professional basketball. Originally Posted by TallKidIsTall do we now see why all the national media thought his anxiety would be an issue prior to the draft?
im with the rockets on this one, they seem to be letting him take the bus to some games and hes still whining about it
we know you have an issue royce but quit using it as an excuse for not getting everything your way with them
the odds the rockets trade him before he ever plays a minute for them has to be increasing -

Re: Royce White Trending on Twitter tonight
As an outsider, I seriously wonder how RW made it through 2 years on campus? And (please correct me if I am wrong) didn't he have a child last year? That is as much of a responsibility as anything...hope his illness doesn't detract him from raising a child as should be done!

According to the articles, he's being fined for every practice and game he misses, so that would be taking money out of his family's pocket. :(

If the Rockets are trying to prevent RW from seeing his own doctor and only their doctor, that would be a legitimate complaint on RW's part. However, if the Rockets want RW to see their doctor in addition to RW's doctor I can perfectly understand that, and would probably insist on the same thing if I were the Rockets.
Anybody whose dealt with GAD knows that there is disagreement as to treatments and medications, and some meds make the situation worse in certain people. From personal experience with my mom, I also know that doctors get locked into treatment modes to the detriment of their patients.
