Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I saw this earlier today and wondered what it meant. Not sure of course, but likely referencing Royce. I wonder if he's shut out his old team and coaches and/or agent and is acting on his own.

I don't think hes mocking his mental health issues. more how much of a ******* he's being about dealing with them.

I cant believe a GM took a chance on Royce. I wish it woulda worked out, but with Royce always being such a headcase and hearing how poor he was of a teammate by some of his teammates at ISU... it makes sense why it didnt.

The guy that posted the fake dialogue...definitely mocking. Royce is obviously going through a lot right now and the biggest things he needs are support and cooperation.
I do think the Rockets have offered the support, but the cooperation isn't there. That's on Royce.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
A sad thing is that Royce has been a big proponent of awareness of anxiety disorders and has been trying to use his situation as example and hope for others that you can be successful despite having such a disorder. However, they way things are going are having the opposite effect. NBA teams were already hesitant on drafting Royce because of this... now somebody in an identical situation as Royce in the future, there's not a chance they get the same opportunity to succeed that Royce got this year.
It just furthers the belief that it's not worth the risk.

Can you elaborate? This is the first I've heard of such a remark.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
This whole situation is just pathetic. Royce has NBA talent but mentally he should have stayed in college another year. I hope he gets this figured out because he is going to lose out on an opportunity of a lifetime if he lets his anxiety get the best of him.

IMO...
Royce's problems are more than a coach, no matter how studly, can fix. I think it's just an acknowledgement of that. Royce may be shutting out advice from ppl at ISU, but there are other explanations.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
I won't comment on Royce and his situation, but I can't say I am not disappointed in his current situation. Ames, IA has no blame.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
Story on npr tonight alluded to isu coaches constantly protecting him when at isu. I think royce assumed it would be the same way in the nba.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
I'll say it in every thread...told you so.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
I still respect Royce a lot and feel bad for him..his own doing or not, he's in a real tough spot. But... I'm starting to think it isn't terrible that he left Ames early. If he's always been a ticking time bomb, I prefer it not going off mid season in an Iowa State locker room.
I hope like hell he somehow gets this turned around. He's getting a lot of hate his way that isn't deserved.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
I think Royce is fighting a battle that isn't really there. He's making a stand against an injustice that really didn't exist, until now. Nobody minded if a person had an anxiety disorder because it was such a rare occurrence, in basketball or golf or wherever. But now, by taking a stance for justice he's likely ruined it for the next athlete that comes along. It's just sad. For him, and for future athletes with GAD.

Plenty of athletes have it, he is just actually speaking. Most end up hiding it but it becomes known. They talked with him on ESPN and he said he'd rather be one of the guys who communicates to fix things than to be that guy down the road where something happens and people say, "man that guy could have been something had that not happened." I am glad to have a man like him represent people with the disorder like myself.
