Just show up talk to the other guy and do what they guy you are comfortable with says.
If this was about the Rockets forcing him to do differently than what his personal doctor says than I'd be in 100% agreement with Royce. It's not though he didn't give it a chance he just took his ball and went home.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
What was his situation last year. Was there an ISU doctor and a Royce White doctor both. Or were there no doctors treating him last year. Whatever was being done, it was pretty effective.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
Oh no....off the deep end
Royce White @Highway_30
I'm very optimistic the @HoustonRockets and I can work this out, it may be HARD, it make take TIme, but it can be done. #Hopeful

This time he won't get everything handed to him on a silver plate like it was before. He blew his only chance, I for one do not feel sorry for him anymore. Life sucks Royce, act like a man and take care of the things you promised to do when you signed that contract. Rockets should sue him for breach of contract and take back everything he has been paid for up to this point.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
Sad to see this. He comes across as a complete moron. Its hard to see how he can be accepted by his teammates at this point.
McHale took a leave last week for a family matter that would have been the perfect time for Royce to shut up and play ball.
He basically conned them into thinking his situation wouldn't be an issue. Since he didn't even try to play. His situation is basically irrelevant right now because he refused to even try to fit in and play for the Rockets.
And I know somewhat about anxiety disorders from jobs with disabled people. I know people who get SSI and stuff for anxeity. And those people genuinely can't hold jobs due to their anxiety. If this was Royce's anxeity genuinely getting the best of him that would be one thing. But he never showed up.
The fact is he didn't even show up to play this year. Before camp even started he expected coddling and preferential treatment when he is a rookie who has to show up and earn his spot. Basically he didn't even try...before he could even try he started up on this thing to get special arrangements made.
The Rockets have to worry about the 12 or so guys who will be playing this year and trying to win them games. Not the rookie who wants to take a bus to a dozen road games instead of the 5 or 6 games the Rockets might agree to let him bus to.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
This is a great article. Worth reading the whole thing:
MyFoxHouston Sports: Royce White is optimistic about rejoining Rockets
Quote:
"We have a chance here, myself and the Rockets, to not only right this situation, but to just grow together," White said. "We're talking about writing an addendum that addresses mental illness in a specific way, which you have to do, because as much as mental illness is a health issue, it's a very individualistic health issue.
"I know they want to learn about this. I think that's what people are missing here. This isn't a me versus them thing. This isn't us being at-odds thing. This is them being in a new, very unique situation. Them not being totally familiar with the situation has very health-related symptoms for me.
"It's not about the Rockets being blamed. The Rockets have tried to support me, but knowing how to support, is just as important as trying."
White confirmed an ESPN report that he will meet with Rockets general manager Daryl Morey on Monday to discuss his situation.
However, he said that meeting will not produce immediate results.
"It can't be that fast," White said. "We have to do it justice. There's no quick fix for mental health issues, because it's a gray area. It may take more time, but taking more time is the right thing to do.
"The Rockets have been great in saying 'we understand that we don't know a lot here.' The Rockets asked me 'what can we do better or how can we support you?' I've been writing some ideas based on what I know about mental illness and what I know about myself of trying to create a nice, sound protocal to add in there. I'm making great progress."
White said Monday's meeting will help lay the foundation for producing the protocol that will help get him in his comfort zone.

I'll put this in mod font:
Several personal attacks were deleted from this thread. We don't have the time to go through 15 pages and do that usually; next time, the thread will just be closed and infractions/temp bans given.

Yes, a lot of "I"s in that statement. I'd rather hear more about his doctor and his or her professional opinions on how to proceed.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
What really will he do to support his family with a hs education? Stay Rw
stay!

That's a very mature game-changer in the discussion.
It would have helped to lead with that. That is a description of a mature process in action, or at least the possibility.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
Serious question... i doubt fred will talk about the situation at any point, but what changed from march to october? Other than living in houston what is the main difference between then and now? Is it really just immaturity or something systematic about the nba? Besides, also-rans dont help their causes as much as stars.
Re: Royce White prepared to leave NBA
Yes, essentially. Royce wants to be an advocate. The Rockets don't need an advocate.
Royce is ******* up, big time, if he wants to play much basketball.
