Our friend Doug Gottlieb doing the color commentary along with Steve Lappas
Do you think he will say anything nice about Iowa State? http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle....CLID=205755324 -

Yes. I think he'll have some good things to say - probably depends on how we play.
im guessing he'll question our size in the front court - is it enough to win in the Big 12? I bet he'll praise Hoiberg for his coaching/ building of a team relatively quickly. If Tyrus does what Tyrus has been doing (hustle and shooting) - he'll praise him as well. Maybe he'll be critical of Lucious' TOs...
imho, the Gottlieb hate went WAY too far last year. By the end of the season, he was as big of a believer as we had. One of the few who thought we would beat UConn.

Exactly. God forbid an analyst have an opinion that isn't 100% YAY ISU!!!! If I recall most of his skepticism with ISU was whether we could guard anybody or not & most on here were worried about the same thing the first half of last season. And honestly, outside of Babb that was a pretty legitimate gripe with last year's team.
Gottlieb is one of the few national analysts that actually seems to do his homework. Some people need to lose the rabbit ears.

If we as fans wan to get butthurt about a particular analyst or group of analysts - I might suggest looking at CBS. Parrish, Goodman, Borzello, Norlander ALL immediately declared UConn vs. Kentucky in the 2nd ("3rd") round seemingly without a thought that ISU could beat the Huskies.
gottlieb is not the only one who has doubted us. We should spread the hate around... Keep it fair.

I hate announcers/analysts that won't say negative things. If I want false positivity I'll watch archives of signing day press conferences.

No, I don't recall the exact details but what most of us took exception with was that his analysis of our team was incorrect. One thing I remembered him pointing out was our lack of defense even though we were doing really well in the league in defensive ranking.

Gottlieb is one of the few national analysts that actually seems to do his homework. Some people need to lose the rabbit ears. His only other hesitation was he wasn't "sold yet" as far as quality wins, which at the time was correct. After the KU/@KSU string, I think it swung him the other way.

I remember discussion about "Could UConn knock off Kentucky?" ... and Gottlieb said (paraphrasing) "Yes, UConn could beat Kentucky, if it gets to that round, but I don't think they will."

but so far... isn't he right? Yes. Which just means he actually knows what he's talking about. He doesn't have a huge hard-on for the B1G either, like Dicky V, et al.

Is this going to be streamed online anywhere? I don't think Mediacom's basic bundle has CBS Sports Network.

“They're very, very hard to guard,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.” -

Gonna head home from Jack Trice in time to catch the 2nd half.
