I watched Hogue play and hey will be big for us. Armadi has potential, just not quite the bball IQ yet due to lack of play. Have not seen edozie but might be a good rebounder and defender.
I don't think we need world beater big men, just solid guys who rebound and play defense effectively. We have a pretty good group of guards in the works. Not real worried about getting buckets.
I have many friends involved with Kirkwood athletics/boosters and Hogue had a monster dunk in traffic against Kirkwood. They said he was struggling with his shot but they were impressed with him. IHCC is a tough team to get a read on by looking at stats. They have more D1 players than starters. I'm not concerned about Hogue. Edozie had some nice games when I did some research last month.
For perspective, the guy I spoke to played D1 ball. He had a hard time getting a read on individual players because they run them in and out of the lineup and play a different style. He was pretty astounded at the collective talent on the team. I wish I had told him which guys to watch intently but the guy he spoke about was definitely Hogue from the description.
For you Central Iowa basketball junkies...Indian Hills will be playing Marshalltown Community College (Will's old school) in Marshalltown January 26 @ 7:00pm. Went to the game last year and was impressed by the number of solid looking players.
By the by, ISU plays K-State @ 12:45 that day so make it a double-header.
Finley Fuller@PrepWars Iowa State commit Monte Morris had 33 points, 10 assist & 8 rebounds in a 84-52 Flint Beecher win over Montrose.
Note: He also had 5 steals.
I think Indian hills would beat drake at this point.
Xedozie and armadi seem like 10 fouls to use and not really impact players. Give percy a breather and a stop gap until we get a legit big guy.
Does anyone know what level of competition Monte Morris is play? He has been putting up unreal stats, almost triple doubles night in and night out, not saying its a bad thing, but I was just wondering how his level of competition would follow over to Iowa competition, if you follow me.
He plays "Class C Division" so what I was wondering, if that would fall into 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A in the Iowa divisions. Anyone know anything on that??
Class A = 911 and above
Class B = 449 to 010
Class C = 217 to 448
Class D = 216 and below
that is just based on what i looked up on the michigan high school athletic association website http://www.mhsaa.com/portals/0/docum...1213enroll.pdf
Monte's school is at #451
Number 1 player in the state is in Class A
Number 2 player in Class B
Number 3 player in Class A
Monte in class C
Number 5 player in Class A.
All 5 of those guys are ESPN top 100 in 2013 class. Really monte playing against lesser competition in high school has not much to do with it. What does is monte's AAU ball which definitely got him noticed. And against top competition too.
