We think we have a good 3 point shooting team now. Vaughn and Thomas would take that to a new level.

Re: Following all of our Signed and Committed players
Cooper up 47-32 at half. Vaugh has 13, but is finding his teammates. This all white boy Wisconsin team has no answer for cooper down low.

Re: Following all of our Signed and Committed players
Vaughn is a little lazy on d, always trying for the home run block or break away steal.

I'm no insider either, but I think ISU's chances are as good as anyone's right now. I think a lot of players are going to like the style of play that Fred tries to run.
I think with any of these Midwest players like Rashad, Reid Travis and Jarvis Johnson a big selling point is going to be staying close to home where their friends and family can come to see them play.
I follow Rashad on Twitter, and he really seems to be enjoying the recruitment process. He re-tweets a lot of tweets from fans of schools that are recruiting him (including ISU). If you are on Twitter, I would suggest following him and even sending him a tweet or two encouraging him to come to ISU.

Re: Following all of our Signed and Committed players
Vaughn's team almost blew a huge lead but hung on. He finished with 25 and hit 2 big free throws to clinch it. He did have a few costly mental lapses. His driving ability is similar to clyburn's. He is elite at creating his own shot. Have to think with him as a freshmen, Thomas/monte/sdw as sophomores, and niang as a junior we could compete for the big 12 title.

I think we have a shot with all of those guys but it would be easier if Minnesota wasn't pretty good.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

I don't disagree with this....but I think Fred's style of play, his NBA connections, etc....are going to be really attractive to recruits. Plus, sometimes kids like to get a ways away from home.....to get that "buffer" between them and family. It will be interesting. Minnesota is producing some really good players right now. Fortunately, Fred is already pretty well known and respected in that state.

Re: Following all of our Signed and Committed players
Also, don't underestimate the personal connection someone like RV may have with Fred in contrast to Tubby. RV recently said he doesn't talk to Tubby that much - mostly Vince Taylor. Fred has been his primary contact (at ISU) for some time now.

Re: Following all of our Signed and Committed players
It would help if Vince Taylor, Minnesota's top assistant and the main guy recruiting Vaughn, would take a head coaching job after the season. I've read that he's in line to take one.

Re: Following all of our Signed and Committed players
Re: his defense - I've watched his team play (Internet stream) a couple times, and his team isn't very disciplined, and that's mostly on the coach. That's not to say that Vaughn IS interested in playing tough D, but a different staff might get more out of him. He's certainly long and athletic enough to be a good defender...

Matt Thomas is so much better than Bronson Koenig it's not even funny.
