Legendary Performances by Role Players
Talking about "The Legend of John Neal" on M&A today got me thinking.
What are some of your favorite performances by a Non-Star player in ISU history?
Re: Legendary Performances by Role Players
This discussion just has to include Lafester Rhodes' 54 against Iowa in 1987. That has to be my favorite.

I wouldn't consider him a role player.
Re: Legendary Performances by Role Players
Are you just talking in the Iowa series or overall?
Lafester, of course.
Ron Virgil guarding Roy Tarpley in ISU's upset of Michigan in 1986.
Marc Urquhardt going from bottom of the bench to starter in four years.
Clint Varley having a good game against the Hawks.
These are the few that come to mind.

I think you could argue up until that point that he was. I don't think he started a game until he was a senior.

Tasheed Carr scoring 13 in overtime at Texas to win in '05. Dude came out of nowhere to beat #20 TX.
Re: Legendary Performances by Role Players
I would probably call Scotty a role player on the team two years ago and his performance against Iowa was pretty great
Re: Legendary Performances by Role Players
The non-important looney toons in space jam.
Re: Legendary Performances by Role Players
Since you didn't technically limit this to BB, I will throw this one out there. I'll let you figure out the game and the circumstances.
Marv Seiler.

i don't want isu fans to believe this like iowa fans. scotty played great the year before against KSU on the road, torched drake for 29 when he didn't miss a shot, had 25 against Cal, etc.

And don't forget putting together Iowa State's first ever triple-double.

That's true. He was a stud his senior year though.

Umm. Hello overtime vs. Okie State in football. A certain walk on full back/Running back and 25 overtime yards of rushing.

Even before he started he had a rep for scoring in bunches. I remember several occasions he'd come in last 3-4 mins of a game and end up in double figures.
